    Community Letter from John Smedley
    Hello everyone,

It's amazing that we're now six years since the launch of EverQuest, and even more amazing to see so many people enjoying the world of Norrath. I know that the development team has exciting stuff planned for the coming months (look for an announcement soon!) and they are dedicated to keeping EQ fresh and alive with all the best technology has to offer.

EverQuest is in its 6th year of existence and while we have continued to bring new content for everyone to enjoy, the cost of operating a top tier MMO has increased significantly during the past three years. Today I am writing to tell you all that we will be increasing the subscription rate for EverQuest effective June 12, 2005 . The new monthly subscription rate will be $14.99/month.

We strive to ensure that EverQuest remains a great entertainment value. No other game offers the detailed gameplay, huge world and tight-knit community that EverQuest offers. The monthly subscription fee allows us to provide the best possible gaming experience for you while also expanding the world. The EverQuest team is dedicated to providing fresh and dynamic content to the players with in-game events, quests, zone re-vamps, game enhancements and great new expansion packs.

To thank the EverQuest community, we're offering players a limited-time promotional offer. Between May 12, 2005 and June 11, 2005, you can take advantage of a 6 or 12 month limited time subscription and reap great savings. Just go here for more details. We will continue to offer discounts from the new rate plan on multi-month subscriptions and these increases will not affect the SOE Station Access? subscription rate, which will hold at $21.99.

We sincerely appreciate all of you who inhabit our EverQuest universe and we look forward to continue having you be a part of our world for years to come.

    Thanks,

    John Smedley

We win't pay it for all accounts, we simply looked at what we are getting for our overall EQ dollar. The mule/bazaar trader accounts got the axe. Our current EQ budget is $78/month for the 6 accounts, we are cancelling two of those and keeping the rest, so the new budget is $60/month rather than $90 at the cost of keeping bazaar traders up.

I do not mind paying the extra 2 dollars a month to play. What burns my Erudite butt is paying 20-40 dollars per expansion for a game I can't enjoy off line. I love EQ but the expansions cost too much plus the monthly charge!!!

Hmm does this mean in 1 year when we all renew the 12month its not goint to be a set $99 didnt they say in 1 year you would get charged only $99 for another 12mon subscription,, kinda a bummer to see prices rise but i know for one bandwidth aint cheap.

Now hold up one minute. My friend told me the cost is 12.99$ a month, I told my parents and they said "That's still alot, but we are willing to pay that much and nothing more".

            AND NOTHING MORE

I may not be able to play now. But I already bought the game and a couple expansions, read hours upon hours through EQTraders and other informational sites as well as the manuel. I was prepared to play but at a gross payment at 15$ a month I am not to sure my parents will like it.

I can admit, my family is having money troubles and really can't let go of more money for just anything.

Why has SOE or whomever runs the game decided to jack up the price another 2 dollars?
-I'm about to get Everquest (Early June) and am so excited. EQTraders has given me a head start and I will not look like a COMPLETE newbie in game.
Thank you EQTraders for hosting a site as good as this.

There is or was a time frame that you could have locked in the $12.99 rate. I forgot the deadline.. visit the website for more info.
I explain the cost this way... $15 a month is less than one trip to the movies.. gotta figure $8 for ticket another $8-$15 for pop & popcorn. and thats for ONE person.

Your friend was right AT THE time. But SOE just recently announced the increase. If you still want to play, you may be able to still get the $99.00 option for a 12 months' subscription, which comes out to $8.25 a month (plus taxes.)

So if your parents are willing to pay $99 for one year in advance, this is actually more economical than the $12.99 a month they were willing to pay.
