  • login ad workaround

Has anyone devised a workaround for the latest perpetual, Tunare-forsaken, indescribably irritating ad for the 12 month renewal that is being repeatedly stuffed in our faces on logging in? Something along the lines of the ones we find to get out of the equally Tunare-forsaken, indescribably irritating ones we get prior to every expansion.

Not that I mind advertising in the game I pay to play or anything...*growls*

    Not sure, but...

I play on different machines (not two box but, home pc and travel with a laptop) and when the ad first appeared on my home pc I hit the accept button (or whatever it was called) and it booted me to the EQ website for the sales pitch/purchase screen. After that I have not seen it since on my home pc, but it still pops up on my laptop when I log in.

I am assuming that in an .ini or some other file type there may be a setting that states to the machine that the ad has been successfully utilized (ie the person hit accept). I have not taken the time to analyze the different files between my two computers, but that is a theory of mine.

Anyone else answer yes to the ad and then stop seeing it, or is it still popping up?

As an addition, I did buy the renewal (my prev sub was up so it was time anyway).

The offer expires today so it should stop on its own.

I share Verdandi's very strong dislike, for probably the same reason -- I paid and continue to pay for it, so let me play it in peace without being hustled to buy more. What I was always thinking of doing, but never got around to (because once I logged into the actual game, my indignant righteousness gave way to superficial in-game goals), is /feedbacking, /bugging, posting on eqlive forums and petitioning (all at the same time, and every time I log in and get the prompt) that there was spyware that was somehow being trojan'd onto my system through EQ files. =)
