I and my guild are going to be trying to get these for all our members. If anyone has any ideas/hints on how to get the Ancient to spawn would be helpful. I was in So Ro almost 6 hours and could not get this elusive punk to spawn. Please any help would be helpful

Are the fabled monsters still going? That'd probably be more reliable, going for the fabled J-boots. I think you still have a few days left.

I have always heard that if you are big enough, try the Ocean of Tears AC instead. He is a little more reliable about spawning than the SRo one. Problem has always been that its a hard camp to find open but with the lower populations (at least if you are still prior to merge) then you ought to check it out.

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure the fableds left last weekend. I believe it was said by one of the halflings on Sony's boards that they'd be around through the 16th. So I think you're gonna have to do this the old-fasioned way. At least until next year's fableds...

Here is what I find works for me most of the time

            1. The South Ro AC will ONLY spawn between 8pm and 5am “game time”
            2. Kill all “rares” that wander in the sandy areas (this is because whenever a "rare" dies, there is a chance the AC will pop as they are all PHers)
            - “an asp” not the common “a cistern asp”
            - “a rattlesnake” and/or “a giant rattlesnake”
            - “a madman” not the common “a desert madman”
            - all zombies and mummies and ghouls
            - “a drybone skeleton” not the common “drybones skeleton”
            - all sand giants
            - Terrorantula and terroantulings
            - “a desert tarantula” but not the common “a dune tarantula” (because killing all spiders seems to spawn Terrorantula more often)
            - any wandering orcs such as warriors or dervishes, but not the stationery Dervishes

Some people just say kill everything that moves on the sand (which does ensure the "rares" will be killed too. Being just one person, I try to conserve my mana by using my method. /shrug

The Ocean of Tears spawn is very fast, very reliable (about 1 percent of spawns are ACs) and nowadays hardly ever contested.

You can stand in one spot and kill him (or more likely the placehoders) all day long. Almost zero effort required. Just be careful if you have or want good faction with ogres. Some ogre factions are negatively effected if you kill the ogre placeholder. (and he's quite frequent) You can just let him wander up the hill, and back, and he'll despawn and then 6 minutes later (spawn time is 6 minutes) another random spawn will happen. Might be the ogre again, might even be the AC. But you just added nearly 15 minutes to the spawn time for the next one. Better to just hunt there with someone who's not liked by ogres to begin with.

On the plus side if you bring friends (one time I didn't, was there 12 hours with no one to talk to... nearly fell asleep twice) they can probably even pull over a few SeaFuries to add some plat/exp to the mix.
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

                  After the AC....

I did the S. Ro camp on several occasions and was able to get him to spawn with the mass kill option (but not able to kill the AC fast enough to get the loot rights... grrrr...SK's). So I went over and did the camp in OOT. Long camp, not utilized much anymore (esp. now that the fabled J's have been up for 2 Anniversary Events). Killed him twice, 1st camp took 10 hrs, second time took 3 hrs. Good luck.

Now that little gnome in RM.... that was a camp. Killed the drake and waited for the monk to clear I do not know how many times (took me several days ). At least was able to make some plat off the HG's while waiting.

So, when you have the ring, do not think the wait is over...

From the docks on Sister Isle facing away from the island - turn 90 degrees right - swim to the next small island. Very close, and there is a small hollow right where you land with a single spawn, could be Ancient Cyclops, regular Seafury Cyclops, could be a goblin. There's your camp.

                          Good directions.

'tis the same island that has the single merch in a broken tower that sells the mage pet spells (amongst other items). If no one has killed the spawn (only 1 mob spawn on entire island) it will wander around the island, so you may have to go look for it. Small island though so no worries.

p.s. Take your fishing gear with you, might as well work on that while ye wait...

                            thanks Aryfak and Alekandros:

This helped clear up a great deal of confusion for me. I will be packing up my fishing gear and spell book. I might as well pack up some Patty Melts and Ale and make a day of it!

I still say that pirate has it out for me.

I camped that blasted AC with a party... I could be standing up, BEHIND the rest of the group who is SITTING down between me and it... and it STILL comes directly for me every time....
