  • Connectivity issues

Anybody have any ideas for solving what might be causing connectivity issues? My ISP (Comcast Cable) says I have some kind of spyware causing problems, but after running two different spyware removal tools, I'm still having issues.

Basically I can only access the Internet for a few minutes or so after I turn on my computer; after that web pages won't load, EQ goes LD, etc. Any ideas appreciated. I missed an important raid tonight and don't want to miss a very crucial raid tomorrow.

Next thing I would try is a few online virus scans, though with conectivity issues it may be difficult :/

    http://www.symantec.com/cgi-bin/securitycheck.cgi

This is differnt from using your own virus scan because it is harder for firuses to be able to disable a remote virus scanner than one on your own computer.

Also... If you have a router, or switch, be sure it is not bad.

Are you using a line splitter on your cable, so you can have both TV and a cable internet connection on one cable? That can cause problems too.

Well the Housecall ran through without any problems found. The other two I couldn't get to run. I do have my cable/Internet signal split outside somewhere, but it's been like that for 3+ months.

Just a possibility... your spyware protection/firewall/virus scan is preventing you from logging in. I have to disable my firewall every time i want to check my email and log into EQ.
Did you recently update any of your firewall/virus scan ware? you might also have to tweak some of the items in the options or properties.

Well I didn't want to take any chances so I bought an Internet Essentials suite with SpySweeper and related software. I have about 10 little icons at the bottom of my screen now lol. But I didn't have any LD troubles tonight. And now have all the pieces for Qvic along with the better part of my guild.

Edit: Oh, and those other two web sites are coming up okay now as well, although the middle one closes just before it would show the results of its scan (might be a conflict with one of my new pop-up window blocker programs). And the third one just said I was safe (It's Symantec, which I own the suite for Norton SystemWorks, Norton Firewall, and Norton Antivirus).

So anyhow, looks like the problem was either adware or perhaps temporary Internet files and cookies etc. slowing Internet speed.

That could very well have been some of your problems ;p
