  • Anyone know where to get.......

My EQ acct was just deactivated cuz my gametime card expired. I can't afford to go to store and get another til payday in almost 2 weeks. I have some cash left in my PayPal acct from when I quit UO. Anyone know a site that sells codes and accepts paypal, or a trade site that has people selling them that accept paypal? Am going a little stir crazy on my days off with nothin to do here at home atm..

This may be obvious but you can download the money into your bank account if you have a confirmed one with them. You can also have them mail you a check (I think you don't need anything for this step). Being able to pay with PayPal would probably be better but just in case you don't find anything out there that will do that....

      No Bank acct atm

Don't Have bank acct atm, and Takes 2 to 4 weeks to get a check from paypal. I was just hoping there was a trade board or site that did it. I know when i played UO, a site called tradespot.net sold em, or people who had credit cards bought em from EA's sites and sold the codes at like a 5 or 10 dollar profit. Some even sold em for ingame currency(Gold).

          I checked their policies......

This was what was on their FAQ....

          What payment options are available?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and JCB.

Thats very odd, and not good business. Im pretty certain that if SOE polled all their customers, the ratio of pay-pal users to AmEx+Discover card owners is probably like 5:1

And I've never even HEARD of JCB.

IIRC, JCB is a card company based in Japan, or at least somewhere in Eastern Asia, so most folks in the US won't have heard of it. The company I work for has non-US airlines as clients, and I think the only client we have that accepts JCB is also the only client we have based out of Eastern Asia.

I think you're probably right about the AmEx/Discover customers -- most of them at least also have a Visa or MasterCard, I don't think they'd lose that much by not taking them. However, the drawback probably is that PayPal's fees are higher than the credit card companies' fees, and Sony probably isn't willing to pay it.

Discover is, in my opinion, a better card than Visa/MC. What I find interesting, is why don't credit card companies offer a return service. Let people purchase a temporary 24 hour CC # that bills your paypal account if you have enough credit with paypal.

                    Interesting idea.

Nor are they higher than Discover's fees. Cash back, Heh. Like it comes out of their pocket rather than any business that accepts their card.

Not being on the accounting side of the business, I wasn't aware AmEx & Discover had such high fees... that's probably why so many smaller businesses only accept Visa / MasterCard if they accept credit cards at all. I believe their fees are lower, right? I do know approximately what PayPal charges, as I use a PayPal account to gather donations for another web site, and I can see the difference between what a person sends and what we get.

Hmm... PayPal's fee structure may be part of the issue, now that I think about it. They charge a different (slightly higher) fee for using your credit card to pay via PayPal than they do if you pay from a balance on your account or straight from your bank account. Since I don't *think* they offer a way to allow a recipient to not accept a certain type of transactions (i.e. credit card), Sony wouldn't be able to have a stable number to use for PayPal fees in their accounting, which they may not like.

Or there may be other issues... like a lack of control over the process, or just being behind the times. *shrug* Unless someone talks to the folks who actually make the decisions, I don't suppose we'll ever know for sure why.

Why do you say that? I used to agree, until I found a credit card that gave me 5% back on Shell gas and 1% back on everything else, with no restrictions or minimums of any kind. You'd have to spend quite a pretty penny with Discover to get that kind of cash back. The Shell card has since been discontinued but I still get 3% back on gas (from any station now) and 1% back on everything else with my new one.

Or is there something you like about Discover other than the cash back?

Well, my comments are solely based on my own experiences, but atm Discover gives me 3% cash back on general purchases, double that if I purchase from certain retail chains and online businesses. I've also been a member in excellent standing for quite a number of years, with a *very* good credit rating. Topping that, I also already get a discount on my gas because of relatives who work for ExxonMobil, so gas back rewards weren't in my utmost interest. As far as all the cards I've had go, Discover has offered me the most back.

On top of rewards, Discover has also provided great service to me for a card lost once, online security, and accurate billing information. I've never had issues with incorrect statements, and they offer a large enough length of time for lost checks/bills mailed to be re-mailed to prevent late payments. Also offer various little icing features if you take use of online bill checking/paying.

Hmm I'll have to look into that. The Discover card that I used to use only offered a fraction of a percent back on any purchases at the level I used it. My credit card use has upped somewhat since then, but not nearly enough to get me 1% back on my old card. It's still active and I also have impeccable credit, so maybe a call is in order to see if they can do better for me. At any rate (har har) thanks for the info
