  • No more pets for Wizards?

I slept through changes in Norrath for about 5 months...I logged in with my 47 wiz and my pet was there, I killed it and now when I cast to spawn a new one the spell constantly fizzles. Do I need a stone or something now to get my pet back? I am using the Minor Familiar...maybe there is a new Familiar for my level? Anyone have any clues?

    Thanks in advance.

Had my pet all last night.

Maybe you are buged, or there was a change to the fizzle code... or you jsut had the worst luck on the planet...

Sounds normal to me Haven't played my 51 Wizard in a while, but I cringe every time her Familiar spell fades and I have to fizzle mana away trying to get a successful recast.

Familiars are horrible to cast, particularly as wizards don't have a lot of conjuration spells to get the skill up early. I used to take a good 20+ fizzles and 2 bars of mana to get one off.

Having hit 65 and conjuration slightly over a hundred, it's easier now. Couple fizzles at most. Also, maybe superstition but I seem to have more fizzles if I have some form of levi up.

Yep. 3 years of this game and I finally got a character to 65.

        But...it's not my main.

        Well, now it is.

Well... if your conjuration is TOO low, you may want to use the halo until bored, then move on the the monster back scratcher

I'm currently level 39 with a conjuration skill of 200. What I do is stand around and chain cast spells after I ding a new level to get my skills up to max. For Conjuration, I use Eye of Zomm and Halo of Light. For Alteration, it's Fade and Shadow Step. O'Keils Radiation and Minor Shielding do the trick for Abjuration, and True North and Sense Summoned max out Divination. I don't really worry about Evocation, since that one goes up just fine while I gain experience.

What I'll do to break up the monotony of chain casting these spells is multitask. I'll stand next to the Qeynos stone in PoK and cast until I'm out of mana, then take a couple of drinks of summoned ale (to raise Alcohol Tolerance) while I meditate. I'll also keep my eye open for someone asking for ports and sometimes pull in a little money that way. Other times I'll fish while I meditate instead. Either way, I don't have a lot of trouble with fizzling anything now.

Come to find out the problem was my ability to cast that particular type spell. I now have my Chanter sister cast Intellect on me and I haven't had many difficulties since I started doing that. Thanks for all the feed back

chain cast Eye of Zomm. Plus, if you wanna PL a necro, while the necro is killing stuff, let him or her lifetap your Eyes when they need a HP boost =)

Heheh I do the same thing... first thing I do when I hit a new level is go practice spell skills until they are maxed :-)
