  • Back after 3 months away...

Everquest is worse than caffiene for being addictive, I swear. So I'm playing again. Or trying to. Every time I turn around, something is DIFFERENT. It's ... disconcerting.

New login screens - very spiffy looking.
My old tried and true custom UI doesn't work any more.
    Refinement? What's that?
    Tribute?
    Zoning pets?
More AAs than I know what do do with...

    I are CONFOOZLED!

My apologies to the mods if they think this belongs in PSR. It's not meant to be a scream... just a commentary on how the game has changed in such a short time.

Nah... you are just cunfuuzzed... not ranting...

Well ... Refinement & Tribute is from the GoD Expansion (along with a bunch of GoD AAs)

Zoning Pets is a brand new feature with the update on 7/14/2004... so it is new to everyone...

And most of it is rather nifty to see (oh, have you seen the new tradeskill UI?)

Maybe I should hop on and see what it's like now, I've been away for about 6 weeks now. (Logged my trader on one night, spent 5 minutes in PoT after, but that really doesn't count).

Well, after spending part of the day digging around on the web, I'm a little more comfy with things... I understand what tribute is, but not necessarily why anyone would want to use it. I've got most of my UI customized to my satisfaction, and I've played with the tradeskill UI a little bit.

I have to say I'm intrigued by what's been going on in the game. Now I've one more question - how (in detail) does one get to Abysmal Sea? I could not find a map for it on EQAtlas. What I would like to do is run all my alts over to there and do the quests for tradeskills.

        Happy tradeskilling!

If you have LDoN, you can use the camp Magus guys to go to Nedaria's Landing, then from there to Abysmal Sea. I could be wrong, since I've only been there once, for an extended period of time. I'm sure someone will give you more precise directions if I'm wrong.

Actually... Abysmal Sea is part of the GoD expansion. you dont need LDON to get to it.. just GoD (Gates of Discord). I have tested it with someone who does not have Ldon but had GoD. he was able to get to Nedarias landing w/o Ldon. & was able to get the stone.
As far as I know EQAtlas no longer makes new maps. I think he stopped back at Luclin or Planes. Try the EQtoolbox (i think thats the site) for downloadable maps for various zones that work with the map UI from the Legacy of Ykesha (sp).
O ya.. I think PoK is open to all now too.

Whoa there... slow down a sec.

Now I'm VERY confused... again. *smile*

Are you saying that the only way to get to Abysmal Sea is via the Wayfarer camp Magi? That implies that you must be at least level 15 (or whatever level it is that you can get the Adventurer's Stone) in order to go there. Is this correct?

              Can someone confirm or deny?

EDIT: I own both LDON and GoD, so that's not a problem. I'm just confused about the apparent requirement to have an Adventurer Stone in order to get to the GoD zones.

              In puzzlement,

Ok two ways to get to GoD Zones ...

                1. Make use of the Magus Teleports
                a. Make use the Magus, ask at any LDoN Camp to go to "Nedaria's Landing".
                b. Ask the Magus at Nedaria's Landing Camp to go to either "Abysmal Sea" or to "Natimbi".
                c. Ask Magus at Abysmal for Nedaria or Natimbi
                d. Ask Magus at Natimbi for Nedaria or Abymsal

                OR -- Walk via:

Qeynos to Qeynos Hills to either:
                a. Blackburrow to Jagged Pines
                b. Surefall Glade to Jagged Pines
Then Jagged Pines to Nedaria's Landing. Cross Nedaria's Landing to the Shoreline, and find the Magus... See Step 1 (b, c and d) above.

You could also go to Everfrost -> Blackburrow -> Jagged Pines

Really your choice on how to walk.

Both the LDON Magus and the Jagged Pine route work but there is a small snag. Neither will work if you are below level 15.

The magus won't work until level 15 becuase you have to be level 15 in order to get the Adventurers Stone (which is part of LDoN but you don't require the expansion to get it only do the quest)

And the Jagged Pine to Nedaria's zone line will act like a rubber wall and dump you back in Surefall Glade is you attempt to zone before you are level 15. Trust me I tried it three times - jagged pines is a long walk with lag as bad as that zone has even when empty.

Well then... sounds like I need to make sure all my alts are levelled to 15 minimum. Let's see here...

                    24 characters... (3 accts - did I mention that I'm addicted?)

Most of my boys are already in their 20's or higher already, fortunately. But I have some at levels 1 through 10. Time to get out my druid and give the youngsters a boost.

Paineel newbie yard till level 4.
                    Outside Paineel until level 8.
                    Warrens till level 12
Stonebrunt kobolds / cats till 15+

Yes I know about Paludal caverns, but I find that characters level so fast there that their skills fall behind - particularly if they're getting boosted. Since I play most of my alts (except for the bazaar mule), I don't intend for that to happen.

PC - it's not fast levelling if you spend 2 hours waiting for an opening in a group.

Stonebrunt is a good place, good exp, good loot, easy access to LoY zones (lighthouse), easy sell, good fishing, safe area there.
