  • Patch message July 15th

    July 15th, 2004
    ---------------------

    - Issues for shaman and druids with the Healing Adept AA have been corrected.

    - Finishing Blow will correctly be capped by level.

    - Kick Mastery, Vicious Smash and Strengthened Strike no longer increase the damage on all melee attacks. They now only apply to their intended attacks.

    - You will again have to hide to use your rogue Sneak Attack abilities.

    - Item recast timers should display correctly.

    - Planar Durability will now add the correct amount of hit points.

    - You now will be able to see mana displayed numerically on the default UI. To see the mana value, you will need to view the mana bar on your inventory screen.

    - A casting time has been added to the Demi Lich Skullcap.

    - Some clickable items from the new Veeshan's Peak have been modified.

    - Berserkers who had purchased the AA, Fury of Ages, are being refunded the purchase points in order to fix a data error. You will be able to re-purchase the AA for the same cost.

    Clarification
    ---------------------
    - Malcohm Thimbleton, in the Plane of Knowledge will now swap out the following Robe Graphic items for Tunic Graphic items:

    - Guardian Robe
    - Shade Silk Robe
    - Shainai's Nightie
    - Bile Stained Robes
    - Cured Shade Silk Robe
    - Robe of the Azure Sky

um... not sure about most of that....

    but...

    1) who, precisely, opens their inventory to check their HP / Mana status?

If you need a mod for this I have a PlayerWindow mod that shows:
    Name
    Current-HP/Max-HP
    Current-Mana/Max-Mana
HP bar with percentage (also displays Pet-HP bar, no percentage)
    Mana bar with percentage
    Fatigue bar with percentage
    Level EXP bar with percentage
    AA EXP bar with percentage
    ATK
    AC
    Level
    Level Title
    Current-Weight/Max-Weight

PM me for a copy if you want.

    2) Um... isn't the REASON that people get the nightie so that "tunic only" races and classes can get a "robe" graphic for weddings? WITBH would you turn it in for a tunic graphic?

I didn't figure that EVERY robe would be suddenly a tunic... but I was hopeful that it would be more than -6- ... and some of them are pretty dang RARE.

    3) Durability now adds the proper number of HP.

    Are you JOKING...?
*Itek wanders off to look up the release date of PoP.*

October 21, 2002 EverQuest®: The Planes of Power™ launches and sells more than 200,000 copies the first week at retail.
Glad they caught THAT one... would be embarassing if they let it hit a full 2 YEARS bugged.

    Conclusion-

Ok, let me get this -straight- here. They projected a 3 week turnaround on this patch. They missed it by a WEEK. Then they patched it in, and had to turn around and re-patch the second half the next day? And one of the things they would like to take credit for is fixing a nearly 2 year old BUG? Was I the ONLY ONE who expected to see "solo/duo LDoN" adventures and instead got a patch with THREE EP+ GUILD upgrades? (New Legends mini-raid zone, VP now EP level, more Discord fixes.) Mana numbers is great, but BTW it's been howled for over the last 5 freaking YEARS.

I don't mind having sunshine blown up my robe. But please don't hand me a dribble glass, laugh, and then wonder why I don't ask for a refill.

If people in my employ produced these kinds of results I'd be saying "ok, can you tell me exactly WHY we let the date slip by a week AND had to do it in two parts?" while I reached for the pad of pink slips.

    Unacceptable. Just flat out unacceptable.
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

I wonder if they redid the Body and Mind Rejuvenation as well, was odd to see that they dropped the requirements off it yesterday.

And actually, as none of it has to do with tradeskills, I'm sending it to OOC. If it turns into ranting then it will still be sent to PSR.

The fix to planar durability was a fix to yesterday's patch, when they implemented a rewrite of AAs. It's not a two year old bug

From the postings on EQLive forums, it seemed like one of the big aspects of this patch would be collision and anti-ghosting code updates, and that further testing on those was one of the reasons for the extra week delay. I'm assuming those aspects did get pushed live - odd they didn't mention it, though perhaps having yet another "- Fixed more collision bugs" in a post-DX9 patch message was something they didn't want.

As for the two parts, the impression I get is that the 14th patch managed to break a number of systems. The 15th patch were all fixes to the 14th patch - not a separate "Part 2" fixing pre-14th attributes.

The patch of the 14th broke the Planar Durability AA, and apparently also some warrior disciplines, people's characters changing sex & race randomly when zoning (although not everyone was affacted, those that were could not use their mounts), mod-rods ignorning casters' HP rune spells, and probably a couple of other things.

While you are mentioning their great work on the patches, don't forget that they accidently had PoK, Nexus and PoTranq go PvP on the Zek servers.... had to take them down to fix that as well. 'Ooooops'.
