Should I buy GoD?

I keep seeing all these cool recipes... but still not sure if it's worth it. My top 2 toons are level 51 and 44 right now, and I'm not exactly a fast leveler (Both were "born" in Sept. 1999) I'm currently not in a guild, I mostly play with my husband and roommate, and one other friend, although I am active within an organization on my server dedicated to organizing "open" raids for those unable to do raid-level content within their own guilds. (Primarily lower-end raid stuff like Vox & Nagafen).

So... keeping all of that in mind, would anyone recommend GoD for me, if my primary reason for buying it is trade skill stuff, knowing that I'll probably not be seeing any of the adventuring content any time soon? Is it worth the money?

Well, I bought it for tradeskills and I wasn't happy that I did. Everything that I've needed so far has been droppable but too big for me to farm easily (level 51 druid) so I just got it in the bazaar anyway. Maybe if you could tell us what in specific you were needing in the way of tradeskill stuff?

Note... unless you are meaning the "freebie" recipes... please note that a majority of the components needed for GoD Recipes are found in GoD Zones only... And most of the drops are gonna be in zones deeper that Natimbi. At least when you look at recipes other than Baking/Brewing.

To survive in those deeper zones, you need either a strong support group, or high level with high AAs...

I will say that Abysmal Sea is a reasonably easy place to get to for banking/tradeskilling, since with only two Magus Requests you can get from any Wayfarer Camp to Abysmal Sea.. and two more back to any Camp. If you do lots of LDoNs, and you need access to your bank... it might be worth it just for that.

OK... yes, some of the mobs in Natimbi will drop GoD recipe components... but ... hmmm... is it worth it? it really depends... and I am not sure how well a Character < level 60 is gonna survive fighting in Natimbi even with a group.

For tradeskilling, it's iffy if you'd want ot buy it. Queen of Thorns is handy at times and various other things.

For me thouhg the hugest advantage to GoD is the Leadership abilities (which you can't use at all if you don't have it). As a support class I LOVE Health of Target's Target, and the rest of them are useful too. And since you can start collecting them early on it wouldn't hurt too much to grab them at younger levels. (Though you're limited in your point 'bank size' depending on your level so getting the biggest abilities is impossible)

Many of the GoD tradeskills you can't do without having GoD really. Such as smithing and jewelry which require the ores, the only way to do those without GoD is to have someone who has GoD do the conversions for you. Same with the GoD brewing, fletching, and many of the other recipes. Leadership abilities are nice, health of target's target is game changing, and inspect buffs is nice for buffing classes (and at level 2 you see how much longer it has on it, so you can rebuff if your buffs are going to fade 5 minutes after you get into an adventure), many of the other LAA's vary from very usefull, to situationally very usefull, to nice to have, to downright annoying. If you do decide to purchase GoD, realize that you're buying basically 1 city zone (Abysmal Sea), maybe some parts of natimbi, and the ability to gain LAA's. Until you're higher level you aren't going to want to go to many if any of the other GoD zones.

Most of the GoD content is upper end, I regretted getting GoD even though I am a tradeskiller. I blew that much cash just to make a few more recipies... that sucks.

I've met mabye one other person who is actually doing Leadership stuff... other than that, business as usual. So don't get it just for the leadership stuff.

Mostly I was underwhelmed by this expantion. With really bad storyline and worse plot, and pretty lame excuses for quests, I didn't have much fun with it. After spending weeks trying to make something with Taelosien Wheat Flour only to find out that it doesn't have a tradeskill flag, I kinda gave up on the whole expansion.

Thanks for all the replies That's pretty much what I'd expected to hear, but I figured I'd get some opinions from folks who had tried it, just in case there was something I was missing. I guess I'll save my money and wait on getting it for a while.

The baking recipes are nice, but if you can get ahold of the parts from other people, you don't need the expansion.

That said, if you ARE higher level, and especially if you are in higher level guilds, the EXP in the zones is awsome, and sicne they have reduced the dificulty, while raising the EXP, the risk vs reward for EXP has gotten better.

I bought it for the Leadership experience initially, and for me it was well worth it just for that. But, I'm a cleric, so drool over Target's Target, and I'm group leader 99% of the time. If you do a lot of pickup groups and are only sometimes group leader it's not as worth it. I also get a lot of use out of the Tribute, which I didn't originally expect, but that's really circumstantial and I wouldn't suggest getting Gates just for that.

Oh and one more thing; you don't have to be Elemental to hunt in GoD either. L51 is a bit low, unless you get a really good group.

But Natimbi has some great quests from hunting mobs in zone there that woudl be great for a mid 50's group.

And a 60's group (non Elemental at that) could handle Qin and Barindu as well if they are careful (about as careful as people used to be pre-PoP really). When GoD came out, I was hunting the Qinimi/Barindu line wiht a group of 5. a 65 Ranger, 63 cleric, 62 chanter, 56ish Shammy and a Pally of unknown level. We were still learning the ropes and we died after a couple mobs but it was doable.

Anyways, just sharing my experiences. Sorry to gush about it so much lately but lately I've been finding those expeditions are a lot of fun.
