  • Database Loss Shock

I must say that I'm quite shocked that the web server provider isn't able to simply restore from tape.

At most in an absolute disaster I would expect to lose no more than a week of site updates if all local tapes died when the server melted.

In fact all the data existing on a single drive should even be suspicious since any decent system will have a RAID array for active data if not all active partitions.

it was a huge learning experience for all involved. the, er, antics of racknine have shocked more than a few people who are used to dealing with large amounts of web-data, but the bottom line is, what's done is done, and we can't change the past. much as we wish we could.
