wizard spells

I need an accurate list of spells that are not available from vendors, and at least a general category for where they each come from (quested, researched, dropped, etc). Naturally, wizards are the last class I'm doing and Graffe's is down. Does anyone know first, whether Graffe's even has such a list, and second, whether one is available anywhere else? If there's none out there I'll have to do the research to make one up, but that's a pain. So I'm hoping to avoid that if at all possible.

Using lucy to figure out which spells are actually at each level, and then cross referencing with CastersRealm for possible purchased/dropped/researched (make sure to check all classes' versions of the spell on CR, as often they list different sources), is a decent way to do it - usually CR has old info though, which is especially annoying for spells that were once research-only or drop-only that are now vendor purchaseable. That can be somewhat mitigated by checking over the PoK and Thurg vendors and comparing to the "drop/research only" list to hit most of them, but its still a problem.

I've heard Alla's new spell database includes source information, but I haven't used it yet, so I don't know much about it (or its validity).

I find alla's to be more reliable then caster's realm. CR has a lot of wrong info and for older spells they haven't bothered to keep the info updated. The only problem with alla's is that it lists AAs with the spells and spell effects as level spells, so there are extra things on the spell listing that aren't actual spells to scribe.

I've been using all those for the classes that don't have handy lists posted here or there but that's more than time consuming even for hybrids with their much fewer spells. With all those wizard spells, and my complete lack of knowledge of anything wizardish, to attempt to be completely accurate...oof. I know Caster's Realm gets things mostly right, and with the sheer volume of stuff they've got it doesn't at all surprise me that there's mistakes here and there. We've got em too. So I try to cross-reference with at least one other resource, but then when there's a conflict I need to find a third source, which can require looking a dozen other places before I find one...etc.

Throughout this process I've used Magelo, Lucy, Allakhazam, Illia's Bestiary, Everquest Live (checking LoY spells), Caster's Realm, Google, the LDoN Merchant Database, at least one class site for each class, at least one forum for each class, and at least half a dozen personal sites people have put up to host information themselves (such as this one for enchanter spells). Not to mention the several dozen sites that I checked for some classes before finding the right info. My EQ bookmarks have fleshed out quite a bit hehe. Every site has their strength. The big ones are great because they cover so much and are easy to find. The small ones have very specific information but in great detail and accuracy. They're hard to find, but can save hours of work. That's what I'm hoping for with wizards. But if necessary I can do the research for them, comparing sites and digging up answers to discrepancies...if no one knows of any existing lists?

My recommendation - create a level 65 wizard profile on Magelo and examine the list of spells. Generally, the only spells listed there should be ones that aren't available from vendors.

EQmaps also has a nice list of spells for each class...I used to cut and copy the list into Excel, then print that out to use as my list.

Graffe's is back up, and does indeed have exactly what I want. Takes a little more clicking than a flat list, but is more than detailed enough to convince me of its accuracy.

lol. was just going to say graffes was back and had everything you wanted. i use that list often. print out the page with all the spells showing vendor info if i can't get them from erudin. ooh. that reminds me. lv 44 and 49 spells coming up soon. /wave /em gates to graffes where he is bound.

do all the spells per level. sorry. then it brings down options. if its vendor i click there. if its only research i click there. then i highlight all that and do print selection. viola. if you try and just copy it, you will have problems.
