Bard Research

Heh, 2 bug reports sent:
- My guildmaster trained my level 70 bard to 70 research. I'm sure he wasn't supposed to go past 20.
- My bard cannot use the Spell Research Kit, "Your class cannot do tradeskills in ths container". I tried the Simple Quill from the Crescent Reach tradeskill quest (before and after I got research skill from my GM). I also tried a Vial of Pure Water.

Research wasn't listed as a skill until I spoke with my guildmaster.
It is currently 70/200.
The class AA, Songwriting, available at level 51, with 10 ranks at 2AA apiece, will raise my research cap by 10 per rank.

I can tell you why that happened, although youre right they did say it was supposed to be only 20. The guildmaster training points always gives you a "bonus" of training as many points as your level, if the first time you train a skill during that level you train something that has never been skilled. Or at least I believe thats the way it works. So youll instantly gain the number of points equal to your level. It only works the first time.

err good thing you can edit. The other thing is theres a different kit for each of the new groups that can do research, one for hybrids, one for priests and another for melee. Altho it was pointed out the kits still say "class: none" so not sure if they are actually working.

wrong container used

you will need a tome binding kit, not spell research kit to make tomes, also a hybrid,song,prayer for the various types of combines

Aye, a different container. I did not find it at first while searching the vendors. Last I heard was that all would use the Spell Research Kit, but ...

Researcher Trophy

I thought I read that Research trophies would not be available to other than INt casters. However, just to make sure, my bard received and completed the Beginner Researcher Trophy quest. He is now the proud owner of a Beginner Researcher Trophy.

However, the trophy is only usable by NEC WIZ MAG ENC <sigh> and my bard cannot equip it.

The Geerlok Automated Quill does is also only usable by NEC WIZ MAG ENC.
The Geerlok Hypermodulating Tool does not transform into a research tool.

Ngreth is aware of these problems with the Geerlok and trophy and said the geerlok will be fixed in the next patch.

The trophy, will need a new set of tasks for anything beyong the 50-99 skill variation of the task because currently the trophy tasks at higher levels require things only a pure caster can do. This is coming soon but not in game yet.
