    Avatars messed up

    Seems that the size of avatars has been changed from 100x100 to 50x50 which i think is ridiculous, or quite possibly a mistake.

    Please change the avatar limit back to 100x100 like the old boards.

    I see there are a lot of things not working like likns etc so it may just not be set up yet

    I can personally atest to the headache moving boards can be (my husband and I have had to do it 3 times for the guild we host boards for and it is NO picnic) so it may be quite possible they haven't gotten around to making the same old board allowances. It is also possible that it was intended that way for the new boards to 1)prevent slow downs of board rendering and 2) prevent security risks (primarily with HTML for this one).

    Being the first night on the new boards, let the dust settle, let people get moved in properly, let DenMom and Ngreth see what is what and go from there. Normally I would say a week would be sufficient but they already had a HUGE workload as it was with the new DB and this would have been the last thing I would have expected to happen. In light of that give it about 2 to 3 weeks at LEAST.

    Knowing anything they will probably not be accepting feature requests(which is what this is) with the boards just like the DB until they can get some of their current workload off their shoulders and to a more managable level.

      While the port over handled about 95 percent of the exact copy that it was supposed to do, it left out a few seconds.

      Please DO have patience as we manually re-tweak things (as we find them) back to the "old" settings.

      While I know it's frustrating for you folks to have patience, it's even MORE frustrating for us.

      On the plus side, all those of you who weren't able to use avatars at all due to the bugs on the old boards, should be able to use them now.

        I'm getting this error message:

        The uploaded file is not a valid GIF or JPG file. Please ensure that it is and try again.

        Since it is showing here properly Im sure it's just a bug somewhere.

        Hope things smooth out and you all dont get too many headaches

          We have bigger problems right now ... like them breaking something big when they moved the main db to a new server overnight.

          It may be a day or two before I can figure out what's still wrong with avatars and the like.

            Let the poor woman get the system stabilized before worrying about frills.

            Avatars are not important.

              My avatar works.

              Of course, that could have something to do with the fact I've got about a hundred different avatars saved, so I just searched until I found one that fitted.

                    I'm getting that same error, but only if I try to add it off a website...of my computer it adds fine.

                      hehehe That is odd. Usually it is the other way around where the upload from your computer one doesn't work and the link from another site does work. :P

                          Putting in a link from another site doesn't work. I got the same error as Timper. It states that it will store the picture locally on the "Link" option. If there is a way to disable the uploading locally on it and let it be third party hosted that would probably fix that.

                            Ok pulling the ability to do that for now.

                            I need to work with my ISP to fix this... And response time is not fast, so it will be easier to just diable it for now. I will leave computer to boards upload available... so... you will jsut have to save the avatar to your computer first then upload it
