linking to other sites from eqtraders

I am working on a fishing journal that is mainly for fun but also effectively includes fishing spots and recipe information, which I posted to the fishing forum.

Now I'd sorta like to post when it's been updated, but I'm not sure if that's within the guidelines of the site (as it's effectively advertising, although it's mainly a case of letting the only people who I think might be interested know about it).

Easiest seemed to bounce over here and just ask directly ... as it's a low traffic board, is it okay to post a note when it's been updated (or possibly limited to only posting when lots of new zones are added / a known "difficult to fish in zone like PoN" is added)?
