I was wondering if it would be possible to change the meta tags on the website itself? Games in the meta tags means really bored eq'ers (behind firewalls) who want to look up recipes so they don't have to waste valuable farming time.

I appreciate all of the work you put into the site and boards. They are a phenominal resource and I hope to be able to use them more often.

I believe that this has been addressed befor and that the Denmum and House Ogre couldn't change the tags. But I could be wrong. Please don't take this as fact but I THINK I'm right.

And as to where to put this, the Denmum might see it here but if she doesn't answer in the next day or so I'd put it up in the Denmum's forum at the top of the list.

The meta tags reference the site for search engines. Software filters can be used to block sites by not permitting certain meta tags. So, if EQTraders has the meta tage "games", if a company sets their filtering software (Nannyware) to block all "game" sites, EQTraders will be blocked. This is how it is at my job... I can access the boards, but the main site itself is blocked.

*giggle* If you ever wanted to reduce your bandwidth to the main site during the work day, you could set your meta tags to include "porn", and I guarantee that 95% of all people at work would be unable to view the site at all.

If pages... you are out of luck until the DB version... we arn;t gonna edit meta tags on a few hundred pages... sorry!!!

This has been the most frustrating part for me. I site here at 4AM with nothing to do except wait for the occasional tech issue to come up and am bored out of my skull. I just want to do something constructive with my time - LOL :roll:

Anyway, I will take a lookey real quick and see if I can find it. In the mean time, who is the actual host of the site? They may add tags of their own and you would have no idea. Kind of like Angelfire and Geocities. :shudder:

Racknine (the host) does not add any meta tags...

Here is our meta tag:

[code:1]<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">[/code:1]

So we are not being filtered by meta tag.

Another cause might be how your company's firewall is setup. Mine doesn't bother with Meta tags that I'm aware of(I can visit sites and boards of eq related sites fine), however I think it might have a listing of websites for a particular catagory.

I.e. I can visit any site if it's linked inside another(such as frames, which is how I get to the darwin awards), but I can't do it directly(like the darwinawards).
