I have been having VERY bad load time for the forum and main site. I have pages time out. This is on a cable modem connection too.

Is this just me?

It will happen from time to time on me two. I have to close the whole page and open fresh, that usally does it for me. And I'm on my college's DSL/Cable that is usally very fast.

We're finding that mysql is quite the memory hog, and it's impacting the boards quite a bit. That should be affecting the main site, though, so not sure what's up with that aspect of it. Racknine's aware of our need for more oomph on the server that houses the boards, and I'm crossing my fingers that it can be addressed "real soon now".

You may notice hours going by with no posts...

During the average day the site goes down completely for me for an hour or more, today was no exception.

When I am able to reconnect there have invariably been no posts, so it can't only be affecting me.

The EQtrader main page has no problems, just the messageboard.

Also other Messageboards with similar or more traffic on the Phbb network don't have this problem.

This has happened to me as well although I wouldn't say daily. Maybe more like once a week it is down for me for quite a while. But the website always still works.

Aye, we're using all available RAM on the box that houses the message boards on a regular basis, apparently. They're looking into the possibility of giving us more oomph now.

Trust me when I say that I'm no happier about the outages, crashes, etc. than the rest of you. In fact, I'd hazard a guess that I'm less happy about it than most of you, and trying very hard not to scream over here.

I really hate the fact that I could have "just" spent an extra $3,000 out of pocket to stay with EZBoards and avoided all this.

{sigh} I am absolutely dreading LoY launch on Monday, with the current (lack of) stability of the boards. I'll try my hardest to get information onto the main site as fast as possible on Monday, so that folks aren't adding to the problem by compulsively trying to reload the boards every 2 minutes for the "newest" information.

People have no patience in this world anymore. Hopefully the recipes-in-storywindow mod will help ease up even a little BW usage for you.

I know this is kind of morbid hope, but Monday will come and Monday will go. If it makes you feel any better, I will promise not to visit the boards on Monday. ^_^

Urgh! That can't be all that much of a box, or else they're doing a lot more than just mySQL and a webserver on it.

it is a shared web server... not just us... so it is other people also using all that memory... etc...

I found my problem with the main site loading...

Gator and two other spyware programs were loaded - my spyware detection software was out of date.

I use Earthlink and it's pop-up blocker and the spyware were fighting eachother and slowing down my system when loading many webpages. I have NO idea why it chose EQTraders as a problem site because there were no add on this site but I think the spyware software was trying add adds to the site that did not have any. I really have no idea but once I did an update things are nice now.
