  • Replies Not Appearing in a Certain Thread.

The Aid Grimel tradeskill quest thread in the Quests forum claims to have 157 replies, and that the last post (currently) was made by Gorgin.

This is a link to the 8th (and currently final) page of the thread, as the forum thread list page constructs it. The link suggests it starts displaying the thread from post 140.

    http://mboards.eqtraders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=76&start=140

The last post (at this time) when you view the thread is by Demorgoth, and not Gorgin.

If we click on the link to all the posts that Gorgin has ever written, we see his most recent post was a post intended for the Aid Grimel thread:

    http://mboards.eqtraders.com/phpBB2/search.php?search_author=Gorgin

But it does not show up when I view the Aid Grimel Thread.

Earlier today, I noticed Molasar was the "most recent" poster in the thread, but at that time too, I did not see his post--it ended with one of Demorgoth. Again, notice that the most recent post Molasar wrote was intended for that thread, but does not show up in it:

    http://mboards.eqtraders.com/phpBB2/search.php?search_author=Molasar

As a final test, I just replied to the thread. It incremented the reply counter, it shows my name as the most recent replier, but my post does not appear in the thread with I click the link to view its last page.

EDIT: And, I just noticed that by dinking around with the link to and starting the thread view at 145 instead of 140, you can see the most recent posts.

I am not sure what is causing this problem, but it looks like the page links may not be getting constructed properly?

The same thing is happening in the Baking forum with the Crab Cracker thread. It started when people had trouble posting and replying, and that problem seems to have some residual effects.

Personally, I'd make new threads with summaries of the contents of threads affected and then nuke the old threads.

Aye, some of the posts that were edited during the message board database problems are a tad corrupted, I think.

If you want to start fresh threads on topics that are having problems, let me know which threads to put to sleep. For now, I'll close the Aid Grimel thread, and start up a new one on the topic.

        Good idea. =)

That's no problem for the Aid Grimel thread becasue Kronepsis has taken the time to track everything you really need to know in one post.
