  • Respect.

    *sighs*

It's sad, that it only takes a few close-minded people to ruin an otherwise good idea.

I do respect your decision to unsticky the FAQ2: The Dead Horse post; I guess it would be less trouble than having to deal with the trolls and flamers that would post about people like me being...er...a political party that existed in Europe during the early 1900s that did very bad things and attempted to conquer the planet. It is your boards, and I know that you will do what is right for the community. I respect that.

However, and this is directed to the very people that called me...that term...

I do not plan on giving up on this ideal. Not in the least. I believe a listing of the Dead Horse topics are just as critical as a Frequently Asked Question list, and will help people to realize that their issues, their problems with, their questions with Smithing are not new, unique...or ignored. I do not believe that FAQs, Dead Horse Lists, or the oft overlooked http://mboards.eqtraders.com/phpBB2/search.phpSearch</a> function are tools of censorship, quite the opposite; they are tools of education and enlightenment. If this makes me hated and unpopular on these boards or ingame, I could care LESS; I know that for every 1 person that hates me or what I tried to do, there are 300 that are better for it. I know this; they've thanked me either ingame, on posts, or by reading the Dead Horse.

    You win!

You win! I understand your reasoning for the Dead Horse Sticky. Perhaps people resented the name. Maybe it would have gone over better if it were called the FDT = Frequently Discussed Topics. Many of the things in the DHP were items that are or should be addressed in the FAQ Post in each discussion forum.

i'm SO glad i wasn't eating or drinking anything when i read your post, lilosh -- my keyboard couldn't have taken it... &lt;still snickering>

btw: i understand and agree with the dead horse idea, and also with the point that a more... shall we say, diplomatic name might help with acceptance of it.

          ODT - Overly Discussed Topics

          EDT - Excessively Discussed Topics

NMOT - No More Of These

STAB - Stop Talking About These

          ^_^
          Names, all in good fun.

And to some extent, if there are a hundred new people to this site, and the current FAQ/Search/WhatHaveYou documents answer 99 of those questions, there will still be that one person who just didn't click the 'exact right link' to get the 'exact right answer' to their Oh So Specific Question. Dead Horse Topic posts will never be eliminated, only severely curtailed.

However and even so, I commend efforts to engage in the curtailing! Cur'tail' the Dead Horses!
