    Posible Minor Downtime.

    A message from racknine:
    Good morning,

    Over the next few days RackNine servers will be upgraded to a new hardware
    platform for its pre-July 2005 clients. This is being done to increase space
    and bandwidth offerings to levels comparable with our new packages available
    at:

    http://shared.rk9.net

    There will be no extended downtime, but a brief outage during non-peak hours
    may occur while your account is transferred. In addition, new Fantastico
    installs will be disabled until the weekend as the popular open-source
    installation tool is overhauled to incorporate major security fixes recently
    implemented by the Vendor.

    I appreciate your patience in this matter and look forward to the greater
    breadth of services will be able to provide you once your site transfer is
    complete.
    So there may be a brief outage (And I do not use Fantastico... so no wories there)

    Would that account for the errors I'm consistently seeing on the front page now?

      Similar errors when trying to use the FIND command to look up spell recipies.

      use the FIND for any spell like "Hungry Vines"
      select it and get an error.

        Someone needs to buy the folks at RackNine a dictionary. 24 hours downtime isn't really a "brief outage." =)

            I have not been able to get in touch with anyone... but my guess is... that php had a bad configuration file... because I depend on some php constants to find directories (so that if say the domain name is changed things magically keep working). It looks like those constants were not correct (and they are probably set in a configuration file)

            So the server downage may have been really small... but with a broken configuration file... it did not do much good. (this is just an educated guess from the way it was acting... I was able to FTP in and access files... but they just did not WORK...)

              Can see site now, but no recipes

              I'm still encountering an error that says something about being reached in an invalid manner. So I can get to recipe lists, but I can't see recipes themselves

                downtime within downtime

                Yeah, I was getting those php errors for all pages yesterday. Today I can at least reach the front page and the forums, and even do item searches, but I can't view item pages or look up "recipes that use X". (The latter gives me the php errors; the former gives me a page that says "This page reached in an invalid manner".)

                As for the "brief outage" we were told to expect, I wonder if that referred to something I noticed last night. I'd been checking the site occasionally to see if it was back up, and I kept getting the php errors, but for a few minutes I was getting told there was no such site at all! The whole eqtraders.com domain was gone. I think that may have been while they were making the changes to direct it to the new IP address, and that may be all they were referring to as "brief".

                I hope the php configuration problems get sussed out soon!
