  • Suggestion for a FAQ

Do tradeskill modifiers count toward the minimum skill required on a particular recipe?

Per Ngreth on the EverQuest Live Official Forums, yes.

Another FAQ: Why don't you display the Lucy/Magelo/EQItems/in-game IDs for items?

Then fill in the answer with whatever it happens to be...

I updated the Skill modifying items (Geerlok, etc.) FAQ to add this one.

The other question I'll leave to Niami or Ngreth, cause I don't know!

First off, we have not gotten permission.

Second off, they use real item id's while EQTraders started before there were item sniffers, and because of that our item ID's do not match up with the real item ID's, meaning it would be an exceedingly manual process and not an automated one. So, we have not done it.

Regarding your second point, I wasn't suggesting you change your in-house IDs to match the real IDs, merely suggesting that if someone has manually noted the real ID for an item, display that. (People have posted elsewhere on the boards that the real IDs are stored if known, just not displayed.)

So, several months later, you're now tracking these internally. Can you display the ones you do have?

EQ item ID's are now displayed on item pages if we have that info for the item. (Actually, they've been up for several days, but I forgot to post about it. )

Can you add it to search results and reverse recipe search results as well?

I think we try to keep those on the short side in the interests of brevity, only displaying the right-click information. Is there any particular reason that it would be useful specifically in search results?

I was thinking it'd be nice to distinguish at a glance between multiple items that are otherwise indistinguishable, even by identifying, such as Rune of Attraction and Rune of Attraction. There are several other similar pairs of research "Rune of XXX" items, e.g., Rune of the Astral, Rune of Proximity, etc.

For the technically inclined, the EQID is a great way to differentiate between items. It also makes it possible to link items across different item databases. For the average player, though, it may be better to split those by name notes, explaining how and why they're different in the items notes, or some other text explanation.

                        EQID / EQTC ID List

For those of us technically inclined, a simple text file, downloadable, of all items in the EQTraders database... comparing the EQTC ID, to the EQ ID, would be really helpful for a project I'm working on, that will compile a guildbank dump file, and provide links on a website direct to the lucy / allakhazams / eqtraders page for it...

It's been a while since I even lurked on the boards here, so really can't remember whether it's information you guys would be willing to share..

Just an idea, to benefit me /grins, of course!
