It would probably be a lot of work, so I want to be clear that this is a "random idea to bounce around" rather than an "omg demand."
Poking around with the tradeskill guides, I started thinking about a different way of contributing:
Tradeskill guides made up of recipe links and comments.
Yeah, that doesn't sound so different, but hear me out
Rather than writing up a document from scratch, and putting in the HTML for it, have a field.
Into this field, I drag over recipes for my suggested (or interested-in-testing) path for the tradeskill, and I have room for a comment with each.
So, say I want to make a fast guide for brewing. I open up the "create an easyguide" page, which has space for my guide on the right, and the recipe menu on the left (collapsable or something).
I click and drag over "soda water" and comment "save this for later"
I drag over "fetid essence" and comment "buy grubs in PoK."
I drag over "faydwer shaker"
I drag over "Minotaur Hero Brew" and comment with suggestions on where to do it
I drag over "Kaladim Constitutional" and comment "or brut champagne"
I drag over "brut champagne" and comment "or Kaladim Constitutional"
Voila, for the end user, a fast and easy way to create a guide - for internal use (mapping out my options for skillup) or general use (submit it to a section for these guides, so people can get fast looks at different paths). This gives people a different view of a tradeskill path, compared to the options of looking up each recipe and writing my own notes, and it may result in more and different guides being submitted.
Of course, for Ngreth and Denmom, it may not be so easy; if there's a need to restructure data, or create new scripts and forms, etc etc - that sounds like a lot of work. I just wanted to put it up as an idea... what do you think?
