Well, as you can see from my cryptic front page post, I have taken a job at SOE. As it is, I happen to be working on EQ1, and on Tradeskills

Now remember... just because I am a fan of tradeskills, and love it, don't assume:

    #1 Things will go faster.
Well... first, I have to learn, second I will still not be in control of my schedule. I will still be at the mercy of having to work on expansion content when you guys want me to fix bugs or change previous design. I will also readily admit that I am not as crazy as some people and I will not work 12-16 hour days seven days a week, so there will be a limit to what will get done.
#2 Everything will go your way.
Well... first thing here... Maddoc is still the man in charge of tradeskills, and I still have to do what he tells me too. Sure my input may have a bit more weight than it did before, but I am still not the "Boss" Second thing though, read these forums... you will see that I did not always agree with folks on the way things should be, and personal vision will always creep in, no matter how hard one tries to be impartial. And frankly some ideas touted here would just totally break the system.

So now to... How will this affect this site.

Well, you have seen a bit of it... already (this did not happen overnight... there has been some conversation with my bosses...)

I will still come to this site, and I will still read it, but...

I will no longer have an Editorial Voice here. You will not see me commenting on SOE or other SOE employees, nor the way that things were implemented, as you may have in the past.

I will no longer Moderate. Verdandi will step up her moderation a bit, along with the Denmother. Lothay will also be stepping in a bit more to be the Heavy Hand that I was, to balance Niami and Verdandi who are awesomely nice people, and sometimes have a difficult time being strict because of that. Not the Lothay is not also a very nice person, he is just able to also be strict in a way they are not able, and balances them nicely. While I say I will not moderate... you still may see me edit a post or two... and that would be ONLY to fix people's BBCode when they make mistakes... I jsut like to see the posts look clean

We still ask you to Not "Address" the other devs directly.

While that rule applies weirdly to me, lets put it this way.

I will ask the mods not to remove posts directed to me, but here are the rules on that

#1 I will *NOT* be obligated to answer. There could be many reasons to not answer, from as simply as time, to the answer needs research, it is something we want secret, or it is a question we just refuse to answer. There will be some of all four of these possibilities.
#2 With #1 in mind... if you get bent out of shape, the post will be removed
#3 With #1 in mind if you BUMP the post to get an answer, the post will be removed.

This will NOT become a place to get special attention from me, just because I have a close relationship with this site. I would still prefer that if you really want to address me as a SOE DEV, do so on the SOE boards, but realize at least #1 and #3 are true there and #2 is if you get out of hand with your "bent out of shape" and start cursing and such...

I will still be working on the back end of this site.
That does NOT mean though that I will be taking data directly from SOE. It will still need exactly the same manual entry it does curently. Anything else would be a conflict of interest. I will personally not be entering in anything into the database that a member did not post about. And no-one but me has both that access and the no-how to update the database directly, so it won't happen.

I think that covers it. If I think of something else, I will post more If you have a question about my ROLE, go ahead and post it here... if it is about Tradeskills in general... well that goes where it normally goes... in General (and that is just a hint to keep this thread on topic, not to get you to ask questions in general...)

      Ngreth Thergn,

As a fan of the site, I have to say you will be missed. You were a strong advocate, and a staunch and solid voice for the community.

Congraduation to you though, it will no doubt be a good thing for you on a personal and professional basis.

You will however be missed dearly.

Congrats on the new position - we will miss you here (well as here as you were anyway ).

It will be great to have someone working there who really understands what it is to play the game (not just design it).

Hope the job is all you expect from it and the rewards are many.
