adding links back to allakhazam and/or lucy

Would you consider adding a link on your item pages that will link back to either allakhazam and/or lucy. While your listing of the mobs that drop some of the stuff is handy, the discussions on allakhazam's pages often include lots of details (regarding methods of obtaining) that aren't really practical for this site. Or is allakhazam kind of viewed as a competing website? For my inventory/spell/quest/flag/etc tracking program, I've gotten a fairly decent database built up that matches items between them, if that's something that would helpful in setting something like that up.

I can see how this would be greatly useful. My initial feeling, however, is that I'm not sure how Allakhazam would feel about this. You have to pay for the ability to search for specific items in their database. We would only be allowing people to circumvent that for tradeskill items, so perhaps the additional exposure would be worth it to him. We'd have to look into it.

My other initial thought is that given the already enormous number of items we have, the idea of going back and adding this bit of information to all of them makes my head hurt. So unless there'd be some way to automate it, which is up to Ngreth, I'm not sure it'd really be feasible.

Lucy is "free" so more likely.

Allakhazam has the members area, so it would be entirely up to him

as for feasibility, the problem is this. They use the real EQ Item ID's. we do not, as when we started, I was a programing newb, and did not know of a way to consistantly get them so did not worry about it.

so the problem is that now, we have 18,315 items'
only 11675 have eq item ID's.

so it is not as bad as I thought, but many of those 6640 items missing are items where there are same names for different items, and it would be ALOT of manual work to match them up

Allakhazam charges money for doing item searches based on stats and stuff, but doing a search based on just the name isn't charged for (at least wasn't prior to my signing up for their premium service). In addition to lucy, there's EQItems that has much the same information as lucy, and they seem to have more items in their database than lucy does.

Much of the matching up work i have already done. I have matched up 14,500 (approx) items with their lucy/eqitems numbers. I've also matched up 11,400 with allakhazam's numbers.

Earlier (http://mboards.eqtraders.com/eq/show...803#post140803) you'd mentioned your willingness to help provide a listing of item names and numbers from your database (of coarse not the recipes and stuff, just names and numbers). Is this something you're still willing to do?
