Dont mind the ads at all. some of them make me chuckle a bit.. such as the Hangover ad in the Brewing section.
Is it possible to actually set a specific ad in a section of the boards? suchs as a Fabric shop ad in the Tailoring section. Bead site in the Jewelcraft section. One could safely assume that one who tradeskills/crafts in-game might have a real life hobby that can help out this site aswell.

it's based on the content of the pages you're on. (as seen by the googlebot as it crawls the pages). Older topics are more likely to have information targeted to them due to the crawling. Bar that they'll be targeted based on the content of the site in general.

So to answer your question, no there is not a method to specificly force specific targets for specific forums. but Yes because the content of the pages determines what ads are shown.

And since we have ads with them, we are likely crawled more often (and that crawling delay may be why the blocked ads take so long to be blocked.)

Just a little question regarding the ads. I personally hate ads but I understand why you'd need them. I'd rather have the ads than have eqtraders disappear. Do you get credit when the ad is viewed or would it better to have them clicked on?

I ask because I use firefox and have yet to even see one of the mentioned ads because of the wonderful adblocking included in the browser. I want to help out eqtraders as much as I can so I'm planning on going to IE for this site if it'll help you keep online. Also, my firewall is set up to block alot of adsites already...alot of sites I go to just have little blocks for the ads because of the combo of firefox and the firewall.

They are clickthrough ads. We do not get paid for views, just clicks.

There was a link here for Ebay.ca that had as its header "Everquest Platinum" I clicked though...and while it doesn't acutally have listings for buying in game currency it does have listings on cheat guides. Not sure what your critera for banning is, but I noticed you did have Ebay.com banned already. Just thought I would let you know.

Ok..... SOMEONE at Sony made an incredibly bad decision to name the expansion-pack-gathering "Everquest Platinum". You know, the one where you buy everything up through Gates for $30.

I can't tell if these ads are ad'ing for the expansion gathering.... or if they're selling plat. And I don't want to click them and validate the fact that they have an ad up. And mouse-hovering or 'copy link location' gives me gibberish, not a blockable address.

Grr.

Should I click them anyway and tell you what site I end up at? I still feel bad tho, like, to block a pr0n site, I have to go to get the address.

if you copy link and paste into notepad or something like that you should be able to pick the really http address out. it is normally at the end.

you can also put your mouse over it, and the info bar on the botom (it is on the botom on I.E.) shows where the link actually goes... you can write that down and transcribe it.

I am actually not allowed to comment on that due to the contract with adsense. You will have to make your own conclusions on matters like that.

Realise there is another side to it, advertisers have to pay per click, and if all the advertisers go out of bisuness, there are problems (not that there are not certain advertisers we all wish would go out of bisuness)

I understand you dont want the "cash for plat" links. I wouldnt want them either. What about political or non-family oriented sites? I seen one link that shocked me that it was here. I dont want to say which one in fear that i would be viewed as "politically incorrect". I can email the link in question if it falls under your cryteria.
