I am enjoying playing with all the little buttons and things - very nice upgrade from EZBoard.

Good luck with the new store - just an idea to mull over, if Ngreth will be doing internet sales, I am sure a bunch of us would love to shop there. I would understand keeping it a bit separate though too - don't need the fans stopping by and being pests.

There a *lot* of other big EQboards that are taking notice of this, especially with the recent "change" over at Monkly Business.

It makes me very proud to be a part of this familly that supports our DenMom and House Ogre and that they took on the challenge of switching from EZboard. You're trailblazers for the community and I think this will mark the beginning of a major swift in the larger EQboarding communities.

Yes... and hopefully all the commentary I've been spewing out all over the place will help that. (There is currently some EQTC love / EZBoard angst on the GU front page.)


I'd like folks to realize that the prices EZBoard are spitting out are just shameful. Money grubbing monkey asses aren't even close to reasonable considering bandwidth usage.

I hope EQTC and the failure at Monkly-Business serve as a catalyst to show EZBoard who REALLY has the power.

I'm not one who takes changes with ease, but this is a very pleasant surprise.

Boards are friendly and easy on the eyes.

Since both boards are currently active, I visit both, but can't wait until I no longer have to go back!

Good choice moving to phpbb. Alot more easier to use than EZBoard and no annoying fees for popups

Monkly Business' renewal cost was $3600, and that number didnt' move from when we were originally informed of what it was going to cost, even though the CEO of EZBoard said he'd talk with Zadkiel.

HUGE props to you, Niami, for sticking to your guns, and making the smart choice - hosting it yourself for a fraction of the costs.

And, while I'm here... since I'm sure he's peeking somewhere.

Thanks folks. Your words of support mean a lot to us, especially given the chaos in our lives right now. I hadn't really intended to start a round of EZBoard-bashing. ops: However, it is a good thing for folks to be more aware of costs, and their message board alternatives.

For us, the difference in costs was significant enough to merit the massive added hassle to us IRL (due to the timing of the gold expiration in conjunction with lots of RL brouhaha) ... besides, the money we saved means I have more in my mental budget to dangle in front of Woody for a couple custom comissions for the site. (yes, yes, Woody, I know, I've whimpered before and gotten too buried to follow through, but this time, one way or another, I'm setting aside some time this week to finally write up what I want for not one, but two projects. ops: )

(Yeah, we're atypical community owners here. We've decided what we can/will pay out of pocket to keep things going around here, pay it, and then count our blessings when community donations come in to help recoup the costs ... and this community has been quite supportive!)
