Greetings! I find myself having to perform a search on the database but there's no mechanism I can find, so I thought I'd ask if I missed something, and if I didn't, suggest an addition if it's possible.

I recently had a friend (a monk, by class) join my server, and I decided that I'd help him out with some weight-reducing bags. I went to the advanced search, but I find that although every record on the site for a container lists that it's a container, I can't search records to show only tradeskill-made containers. Is there a way to search text of the record for key words (like, in my case, "container") or would it be a lot of effort to add such a capability?

Well, tradeskill containers have that in them too. The problem is spliting out what is a TS container and what is not (not imposible... just problematic)

But I can answer that the only weight reducing bags that are TS made are the Halfling Cultural, the ones that are the result of the TS Trophy, and one from Luclin that has a drop only patern, whose name escapes me Only the Halfling Cultural is tradable. (unless I am mistaken)

The Luclin one is the Rallic Pack, and it is tradeable, but it's lore, so nobody's going to have more than one for sale at a time. I don't recall the trivial level off hand, but it isn't very high, it's more a quest item with a minor TS component than a TS item.

I see my mistake in the request. My statement...

...doesn't convey what I wanted to find. I didn't want to search a list of containers to find which are tradeskilled, I want to search all of the records in the EQTraders database and get a result set that lists all of the records that contain the tag "CONTAINER: CLOSED" or "weight reduction:" or whatever that will show that it's a container. That list would contain all tradeskilled containers as well as all containers that aren't tradeskill-made but relate to tradeskills (like deluxe toolboxes and such).

More generally, I was hoping for a mechanism that allows searching the whole record for a key phrase, not just the name of the record, so a search for "can only be made by gnomes" would return items that have that string.

Rather uglier than what my original request implied, but what say you?

Well... that would be one slow search...

but that aside... that search also only searches items, so you would not get the "only made by gnomes" since that is saved in the recipes.

I am not sure I would want to add that anyway because of how hard it would hit the database.

Though its ugly as anything, you *might* be able to find what you want through Google. Messing around a bit, I got what looks like about 200 containers using the search string site:www.eqtraders.com +"CONTAINER: CLOSED". If you refine that a bit more (maybe with the WR string, or somesuch) you might be able to get a manageable list - or you could just go through the 200.
