Question for the Aide Grimel Quest

OK... looking at the Aide Grimel Quest, as those of you who have done it, are working on it, or dreaming about it know... it is a rather long and involved Planes of Power Based Quest.

There are updates that need to be applied to it... but my Question is this:

Would it help to break the Quest Writeup into several files, that are linked together, rather than one long writeup? As a comparison I would point you at the Shawl Quests, or the Protection of the Cabbage Quest.

I am thinking of the following pages:

Introduction
Part 1 Smithing
Part 2 Brewing
Part 3 Jewelcraft
Part 4 Pottery
Part 5 Tailoring
Part 6 Fletching
Part 7 Baking
Last Step

For a total of 9 pages... or should it be:

Introduction
Part 1 & 2 [Smithing & Brewing]
Part 3 & 4 [Jewelcraft & Pottery]
Part 5 & 6 [Tailoring & Fletching]
Part 7 [Baking]
Last Step

For a Total of 6 Pages.

Multiple pages makes for easier reading (finding just the bit of info you want), easier updating, and a more managed site.

One page makes for easier printing (of the whole quest), a nice summary overview of the quest, and faster maintaining ("Was the smithing on page two or three again?").

There are pros and cons to both views, from both the end-user and designer perspectives.

Let me ask this. Is it an option to do both? You create it as nine pages, then you have a "master page" that effectively includes only the following directives as content (either HTML page includes or database commands, depending on how you do things):

INCLUDE Introduction_page
INCLUDE Smithing_page
...
INCLUDE Last_Step

That way, viewers could see only the individual pages, or the full quest text, as they wish.

Of the options presented, I'd vote for the six-page view. Makes for a nice compromise.

As for having "Both"... or maybe all three, I don't want to duplicate the article contents. But if Ngreth can figure out a way to support an "INCLUDE Article G###" Tagging, then we could do ALL in one, and a 6 Page set. But have the real contents as individual pages. This could get messy with linking between sections.

I think for now my target will be a nine page set, with links between.

re is smithing on page 2 or 3...
different numbers will help with the memorization of whatever is at hand. IE, Shawl.

one page is easier for printing. will be a half moot point when i get that far in making storywindow mods. (smiley!) (twitches at the thought of modding the AidGrimel... twitches at the rememberance of modding Shawls...)

even on a dialup, i vote for more pages. but the option of having it loadable in one page is nice, too. should that one not work out, nine pages is my vote.
