Cultural Name Changes in game

The promised cultural name changes appear to be in place. I opened my tailoring kit to make some GM swatches and at first could not find them. Changes I can verify:

Expert Wirewood >> Ornate Wirewood

Expert Brambleborn >> Ornate Brambleborn
Master's Brambleborn >> Intricate Brambleborn
Grandmaster's Brambleborn >> Elaborate Brambleborn

Expert <item> Symbol of Growth/Terror/Storms/the Skeptic
>> Revered <item> Symbol of Growth/Terror/Storms/the Skeptic
Grandmaster's <item> Symbol of Growth

I really dont see what "expandability" was gained by renaming everything. It seems each of the old leveling names (Expert, Master, Grandmaster) were replaced with a new but identically uniform descriptive (ornate, intricate, elaborate).

Perhaps it has something to do with matching the names of the new drops with the level of the pieces they make, but if that's the case the new drops could just as easily have retained the old descriptives as assign all new ones.

Otherwise, its just a matter of someone's subjective opinion that the new names sound "better." Functionally, theres no difference.

Yeah, they'd have to come up with something to trump "grandmaster" as a description for the potential level 80 stuff, but its still just semantics.

The expandability is to add new tiers in the future, such as for level 75-80, or even inbetween current tiers.

There is nothing in the old naming system that prevented the addition of new tiers. Again, its just semantics and what someone thinks sounds "better."

Yes and no. Historically, when referring to EQ tradeskills, the term Grandmaster referred to a person who has maxed their skills. When it was attached to a tier of armor, the implication was that it was the best possible armor, and that's what it was for a long time. Now, however, the devs are considering adding new tiers, and it's hard to come up with a new name superior to Grandmaster.

There's still hundreds more to be verified but it seems all Journeman armor became Simple, expert became Ornate, Master became Intricate, and GM became Elaborate while the augment line had different names. JM became Blessed, expert became Revered, master became Sacred, and GM became Eminent. All 's have been dropped from the old line as well. ie Expert's but not Ornate's

Thanks! I actually went through and updated all the Grandmaster's symbols and armors. (Oy, it took forever!) I'll work through Master's next.

What I need to verify at this point is...
Did the names of the books change as well?
How about the symbol pattern names? Are they the same?

I will check on my Barbarian books, but if anyone can confirm books & patterns in their inventory, that would help. (I'll do some research on it as well... this is a long process so I'm sort of doing one little research bit, then a lot of updating... then more research bits, then a lot of updating!)

Creates Revered Wrist Symbol Pattern, etc

Was wondering when the changes made in game will happen on the website,, gets to be hard to look up recipes when they are mixed up as some still list the old names and some are listed with the new names..
