      I assume the Whittling Blade is returned on both success and fail?

        It is returned on success, would assume is also returned on a fail, but I didn't fail so cannot confirm

          Well, all the other bows are marked as returning it only on failure. Which means it's almost certainly returned on failure for this one (so I removed the note), as well as we should probably add it as returned on success for all the other shadewood bows....
