  • Completed write-up of the Chef Chowderly quest

Find Chef Chowderly in the "restaurant and bar" room where they sell baking and brewing supplies.

    You say, 'Hail, Chef Chowderly'
Chef Chowderly says 'Sorry, friend. I do not mean to be rude, but I am very busy right now cooking a [meal].'
    You say, 'What meal?'
Chef Chowderly says 'I must cook for a large portion of the people living here on the ship. Seems they just cannot get enough of my cooking. I am a master at making [tasty tuna dishes] after all.'
You say, 'What tasty tuna dishes?'
Chef Chowderly says 'Are you interested in the culinary arts? If you are, then you must have heard of some of my most famous dishes such as my Seafarer's Tuna-Corn Chowder. You haven't heard of that you say? Hrmph. If you are interested in perhaps learning my award winning recipes, I could use a good assistant. Throgar over there is not much help!' Chef Chowderly gives a cold glance to his assistant Throgar who is standing in a small pile of broken dishes. 'I swear he drops more dishes than he cleans! Anyway, I might have time to teach you some recipes if you [can help] me with something and you have some knowledge of cooking.'
You say, 'I can help you'
Chef Chowderly says 'First of all I need some more dishes.' Chef Chowderly glances over at Throgar again, who drops a glass on the ground, shattering it into tiny pieces. 'Sigh. I think I will need a lot of dishes. If you can, take this note to my friend Rellix in Rivervale. He owes me a favor and should be able to give you some dishes. Return them to me when you get them.''
    He hands you a:

    Note to Rellix

Find Rellix in Rivervale near Byl Babbinsbort (Rellix isn't on Find, but Byl is). Hailing gets no response, so hand him the note.

Rellix says 'A note from Chef Chowderly, eh? I haven't heard from him in some time. Hope he is doing well.' Rellix reads the note. 'I do happen to have some spare dishes. Here, take them.''

So, back to Abysmal we go. Hand Chowderly the dishes and he says:

Chef Chowderly says 'Thanks much. These should last at least a day or so. Take this recipe for my world famous Spicy Tuna Salad Sandwich and see what you can do with it. Once you make one, hand it to me along with the recipe I just gave to you. Now, I don't let just anyone borrow recipes, so please pay attention and do your best.'

    -Chef Chowderly
Once you make the sandwich, hand it to him along with the recipe he gave you.

Chef Chowderly scarfs down the dish you created. 'Nicely done! I can tell it was prepared with great care! Take this recipe for Pan-Seared Orange Tuna. It is a personal favorite of mine. Once you make this dish, hand it to me along with the recipe I just gave to you.' Chef Chowderly returns to his busy pace of cooking.

    It reads:

    One 2 lb. Saltwater Tuna
    Loaf of Bread
    Spices
    Seaweed Vinegar
    Flask of Orange Juice
    Cup of Sugar
    Large Stewing Pot
    `-Chef Chowderly
Since I got this text, the quest was changed to require a Non-Stick Frying Pan instead of a Large Stewing Pot. I don't know if the note's text was also updated. Anywho, once you've seared the tuna just so, hand Chef Chow-mein his meal and he will tell you:

Chef Chowderly scarfs down the dish you created. 'This is great. Your dish was flavorful, cooked just right, and I can tell you know your tuna. Take this recipe for Taelosian Tuna Kabobs. Once you make this dish, hand it to me along with the recipe I just gave to you.' Chef Chowderly returns to his busy pace of cooking.

    Talosian Tuna Kabobs

    Combine in an Oven:
    One 3 lb. Saltwater Tuna
    Skewers
    One Spotted Mushroom
    One Habanero Pepper
    Ground Garlic

    -Chef Chowderly
Yes, it's misspelled in the first line of the note. Off to find some mushrooms. The mushroom you need is called "A Spotted Mushroom" and it's a random drop off the various shrooms in Dawnshroud Peaks. (While hunting, hang on to any "A Mushroom" you find for a later step of the quest.) The garlic is sold in the Neriak Rogue's guild and in Abysmal Sea at the poison vendors. Cook up the kabobs and hand them to our Chef.

Chef Chowderly scarfs down the kabobs. 'Quality work! The tuna was cooked just right, the mushrooms were tender, and you added just enough peppers. I am impressed. Keep up the good work. Take this recipe for my Delightful Tuna Cakes. Once you make this dish, hand it to me along with the recipe I just gave to you.' Chef Chowderly returns to his busy pace of cooking.

    Ground Garlic
    Three Shissar Eggs
    Bread Crumbs
    One Water Flask
    One Cup of Flour

    -Chef Chowderly
So, after wiping out some snakes in Ssra, you should have some eggs. One hand-in later:

Chef Chowderly joyfully eats the cakes. 'This is great! You certainly know how to make this dish. Shissar Eggs are not easy to prepare properly, but you did an excellent job. We might have a master chef in the making here! I think these dishes have been too easy for you. From here on out, the recipes are going to be harder to make. I think you can handle it though. Take this recipe for Taelosian Tuna a la King. Once you make this dish, hand it to me along with the recipe I just gave to you.' Chef Chowderly returns to his busy pace of cooking.

    One Bottle of Milk
    One Cup of Flour
    One Phoenix Egg
    One Mushroom
    Spices
    Vegetables

    -Chef Chowderly

Chowderly can't spell very well, can he? This one looks moderately easy, but it's not. Remember that "A Mushroom" I told you to save? This is why. You need to use that in this recipe, not the normal foraged "Mushroom". Bake it up and hand it in, and you'll get:

Chef Chowderly joyfully eats the dish you prepared. 'This dish truly was fit for a king. Very nice work. Your training is almost complete. Take this recipe for Tuna Rice Surprise. Once you make this dish, hand it to me along with the recipe I just gave to you,' Chef Chowderly returns to his busy pace of cooking.

    Wok
    `-Chef Chowderly

And yes, he really did misspell "surprise" and use a ` in his last line. One baking combine and hand-in later, he says:

Chef Chowderly joyfully eats your meal. 'Excellent work, my friend. I guess you want to know what the surprise part of the dish is? Well, there isn't one really. It is always nice to include the word surprise in at least one of your dishes! That is a tip you should never forget! Take this recipe for Spicy Tuna Sunrise Steak. Once you make this dish, hand it to me along with the recipe I just gave to you.' Chef Chowderly returns to his busy pace of cooking.

For Pan-Seared Orange Tuna, the recipe scroll now lists a Non-Stick Frying Pan now instead of a Large Stewing Pot.

Was there a nerf on fishing: 500+ casts and no Tuna below the weight of 6 lbs.

Evidently, the higher your skill, the more likely you are to catch bigger fish. You can break them down, though, no?

Yes but that only reduces them to the 1lb variety. Some of the combines require 2,3 and 4lb varieties. IIRC you can not recombine 1lb ones to larger sizes.

Ah, so that would explain why I heard of some people making twinks/alts with low fishing skill to do this :/

Pretty sure you need a pre-100 skill to catch those smaller size fish.

Added to the site and linked up! I'd appreciate anyone who knows the quest remotely well looking it over for typos and such. It was almost all a cut/paste job, so I want to be sure snippets didn't go wayward.
