With the advent of DoN, it seems this is now used in Ogre cultural. They have made this item stackable (it wasn't before).
No information on drop locations (I found it on a vendor).
With 116 Charisma & indifferent faction (on an alt), vendors offered 2p8g5s7c for Dark Ore and sold it back for 3p1g4s9c.
