Write-up on DoN quests (correction)

Grandmaster: You need to be doing a DoN mission in order to get the drops you need for the grandmaster quest. The same mobs outside of a mission will not drop the items. Kill 120 of a type of creature and get at least 80 of a certain drop from that creature. The second part of these quests is still unknown.

I can confirm that, at least for the Thundercrest mobs needed for Erudite GM step, the mobs in the NORMAL zone are sufficient to count towards the 120 mob target, BUT not all kinds of mobs in the zone count (only drakes and kirin seem to count for the Erudite GM step). Same with the Fractured Drake Claws needed, they count when looted in the NORMAL zone as well as the instanced.

One funny thing though, we killed a named Drake in an instance (the final boss) and he dropped a Fractured Drake Claw, but it did NOT count towards the 80 drops needed, even though it attached itself to a stack being made already so I assume it was the same item.

I think (I'm not positive, but I think) the devs have said that you are actually supposed to be required to be in a mission to get the drops you need. That'd make this a bug. I'll see if we can get confirmation one way or the other.

I can confirm that the items don't have to come from a mission I finished the High elf drake claw part in the normal Lavaspinner zone.

Just wanted to add that for the Human Grandmaster quest, kills in non-instanced and instanced Stillmoon count toward the total. But I have not ever seen the drop item (Patch of Rough Goblin skin) ever drop in this zone except when instanced. The item does drop in other zones but does not count there.
