Basic Human Cultral book quest (Qeynos)

I wasn't allowed to go to my home town and start this quest (Human SK of Inny, Home freeport) so went to Qeynos instead. Found 2 TS quest givers and only one spoke to me. Will confirm name later. Have 250 Smithing and not much in tailoring if this makes a difference.

Basic book quest =
20 Sharks (any type) in Erud's Crossing
4 Lakewater pearl (Need to hand these in, drop of sharks and were fairly common)
Hand in Pearls
10 Willowwisps in Erud's Crossing
1 Lightstone
Hand in Lightstone

I'm assuming this quest gives a tradeskill reward of some sort, if so what is it? Also do you have the name and loc of the quest giver?

Checked freeport, you can get quest there (WFP) only tradeskill quest NPC on find gives it. She cons ally to me so i think shes on pally faction instead of freeport guard faction(KoS to me).

overall these seem to be a lot easier to do than their qeynos counterparts, and probably lead to the same patterns (still doing quests)

This Quest based in Qeynos is called "Clearing the Western Sea Lanes".
They are Lake Pebbles, not pearls.

Qeynos Quest Giver is Tar Cordell, don't have the location but it might be worth noting it is on the find list, under trade skill quest.

Half Elf - Qeynos

I'm a Half Elf Warrior.

Half Elf Tradskill quest start off the same way as the human. The Half Elf guy is by the POD as you enter Qeynos.

I originally started from Freeport (Nameless in 1999) but for some reason SOE thinks I started in Qeynos. I went to Freeport but couldn't find someone to talk to me but I didn't look that hard, i was pressed for time. Tradeskill person in Freeport said "I don't trust you." (I'll double check this later and see if there's another.) I'm max ally in Qeynos and apprehensive in Freeport so that could have something to do with it.

Guy, in Qeynos, actually starts off But I'm not sure that this is the first step. He sent me on another to gather, a lions tail, golden bandit tooth, fire beetle carapace, and zombie skin.

The reward was I got the Ancestral Half Elf Book (not exact name but close).

This is meant I think for a level 5 to 20 character because of the level of the mobs.

After getting that then I did the clearing the Erud's Crossing Quest as ColdHeart described above.

As stated they are 'pebbles' not 'pearls'. This quest is easier if you have a tracker who can lead you to the sharks. The visibility stinks, I ended up using Incite taunts and arrows when i got any visual on these. I got credit for killing both ''a shark" and "a killer shark"

Half Elf's get the Journey Man's Book of Half Elf Culture. (My Second Book) This is meant I think for a level 5 to 20 character because of the level of the mobs.

This quest I think is for levels 20 to 40ish. (Killer sharks will ruin your day if you can't handle them.

There are quests for the other books he will send you on to Kedge Keep and Dragon Necropolis also. The final quest I think is into the new expansion zones.

I am currently stuck on finding the fixings, specifically a 'compacted backpack'. I think it is a recipe because did a search in the trade skill UI and got the Backpack icon show up when I looked up 'compacted backpack' (Skill level 15). The only component was a backpack but I didn't think to open it. I tried with Loom in Qeynos, small sewing kit and a deluxe sewing kit. I logged when I got tired.

I will eventually get around to editing the script I logged and posting the script in the books I have. Give me a couple days I logged it and will transcribe it when I have a moment of 3 along with the all important name of the guy (he's a half elf).

Compacted backpacks are vendor sold; I saw one on one of the vendors with cultural supplies in Qeynos (Nerissa Clothspinner, who incidentally has a totally new look).

Also did the pattern quest thing. Was asked for Fire beetle Carapace, Zombie Skin, Golden Bandit Tooth and Lion Tail (All but zombie skin is easy drops from West Karanas, I went to Nektulos Forest for Zombie Skin).

The Zombie Skin is an easy drop in West Karana too, you just run over to the undead area kill one of the zombies and you've got it.

I found that the fastest/best way (for me at least) to kill the lavaspinners and collect the drops was to get a group of friends/guildies and do the entry level DoN missions that take you to Lavaspinners lair. It was pretty easy to convince them to go ahead and wipe out all the spinners while we were in the zone since the xp was fairly decent. I ended up getting around 40-50 spinner kills per dungeon, but the eye clusters held me back. I ended up having to run an extra mission just to meet the 80 eye quota.
