Update to DE cultural books

Hi all. I have just finished the first 3 books of the DE cultural. This is what I know so far.

The quest giver is in Neriak commons inside the Blue Flame weapons/armor shop. His name is Dosa Vis`Moor hail him and he will talk about armor made for Lanys' elite guard.

You say : "armor"

Dosa goes on about how he has the patterns in his head but will make you a book for a price, or offers you something more valuable.

You say : "What price?"

He now asks you to collect some items. They are as follows:

A cutthroat insignia: drops off of Dervish Cutthroats in WC and Ro

A rawhide belt: Drops off of orcs in Ro

A snake venom sack: Drops off of Cistern asps in Ro

A low quality cat pelt : Drops off of plains cats and pumas in ec/wc/ro. Can get higher quality pelts and reduce to low using skinning knife.

Give these items to Dosa and he gives you the Ancient Dark Elven Armor book.

If you read the book it tells you how to make molds. Place the book, a large block of clay, sculpting tools, and a collapsed backpack ( the clay and backpack are both sold in the blue flame on a female merchant, Krysta N`Ryt) into a KILN, and you will get back a backpack with the following:

40 Dark Elven Wristguard Molds
20 Dark Elven helm Molds
20 Dark Elven BP molds
20 Dark Elven Legging Molds
20 Dark Elven Gauntlet Molds
20 Dark Elven Sleeves Molds
20 Dark Elven Boot Molds



Now go Hail Dosa again.

You say : Valuable

Now he will mention that the armor can be made stronger with emblems, and he offers you four tasks, the tougher the task, the greater the emblem. The 4 zones for the tasks, in order of difficulty are: Najena, Solusek's Eye, Sebilis, and the Valley beyond Lavastorm. Simply repeat back to him the zone you want the tasks for. I have done the first 2 and started Seb, this is what I know.

Najena:

Kill 20 Ogre Guards

Loot 4 Whore's Bane

Return the 4 Whore's Bane to Dosa and he gives you the second half of the task, which is also in Najena and is as follows:

Kill 10 Magicians

Loot 1 Reagent Pouch

Return the pouch to Dosa and he gives you the Journeymans DE cultural book.

Solusek's Eye:

Kill 50 Gnome Miners

Loot 20 Gnome meat

Return meat to Dosa, and it's back to Solusek's Eye:

Kill 5 CWG's (clockworks)

Loot 1 Broken Frost Module

Return Frost module to Dosa and you get Expert's DE cultural Book.

Both of these books seem to deal exclusively with creating the patterns to craft the symbols used to augment the armor. Now I am off to Seb to start the quest for the Master's book. Wish me luck. This is my task:

Kill 80 Krups

Loot 40 Wax Flowers

Just recently did the Master Culutral for Humans in Freeport

Kill: 80 Chetari or Chelari (sp?)
Loot: 10 Old Dragon horns.
Return: 10 Old Dragon Horns
Kill 5 Phase Spiders
Loot:1 Phase Spider Silk
Return: Vivian 1 spidersilk

Note: Oh my friggin lord, i hated doing this quest. I killed with a whole group for 3 hours... killing the major spawn area for these rat fellas. I have to say we killed the first 80 in 30 minutes. The rest was to look for these RARE very very very very Rare horns. Good luck trying to get these. And i am already dreading the thought of redoing this book for more symbols... i don't think any of my guildmates will help me now after this horrifying experience.

600 rats kill.... 3 horns found.... guys can you stay for 2 hours more? please?

Kornaena you will have to do your collects in missions only. They do not drop in the regular zone. Be prepared to stay there for several missions as they are not super common either. I was able to get all 4 tasks and jump straight to GM after completing journeyman on the human cultural.

For human GM task:

Kill 120 minions in Stillmoon temple
Loot 80 pieces of goblin hide (skin?)

For the Dark elf cultural, the second part of Sebilis is Killing 5 Ilis Shaman and loot 1 nodding blue lily.

For the Grandmasters Book I am stuck.
Killing 120 lavaspinners and loot 80 aracnid eye clusters, turn in 4 clusters. I have killed lavaspinners in Lavaspinner lair and Lavastorm, both count toward the body count. However, I have yet to find an eye cluster. I suspect they drop in an instanced Dark Riegn version of lavaspinners, since Dosi told me to seek out operatives in Lavastorm to recover the "rare" clusters.

The GM task for High Elves is the same thing too. I know someone in my guild who is having this same problem. We suggested he /bug it.

I don't think this is a bug. The script for all GM collects tells you to seek out operatives in Lavastorm to assist you in finding these rare items. I think that is the subtle hint that you must complete missions to get these drops. I have done 2 missions now in Stillmoon where the human GM task is and have obtained 25/80 loots so far. I think it is working as intended, they just want you to have a group with you to complete this part of the task.

Receive -- Masters book of Halfling culture

These quests are level based not skill based. I am Lvl 70 but my tailoring atm is only 180, I had already begun collecting pieces for the Grandmaster Book prior to beginning the Masters book quest. I have found that the Fractured Drake Claws only seem to drop in missions in Stillmoon temple-- gonna be alot of missions, need 80 fractured drake claws.

One minor error in this. You need the HUGE block of clay sold on Krysta, not the large.

It is very possible that you will need to get/lead the task yourself. I went into one of these instances with a few friends, and we had about 10 to 20 eye clusters drop, and I looted all but one of them, but did not get any credit for looting them. I did not get the task for lava spinners, my friend did. Can anyone confirm this?

It is very possible that you will need to get/lead the task yourself. you do not need to lead the task to get the credit for looting them just beable to be there and loot them, i did lead about 3 of the 10 tasks it took me to get them (i was shareing the looting of the eyes with another) and still got credit for lotting them in both the following of the task and the leading of the task

I've finished all of the book quests except the Grandmaster level aug one.. i'm on step four of that.

Just a note about the grandmaster Level book... The task says ALL as the zone to kill and loot the mobs and items needed... however... the isle drakes are only found in Thundercrest Isles. The Fractured Drake Claws are found in all of the instanced zones, but ONLY the ones from Thundercrest Isles mission (instanced) zones count toward the 80 needed to complete the task. The isle drakes from the regular Thundercrest Isle zone are soloable, they do not summon, and there are three right near the zone-in spot that can be single pulled. I just killed these three multilpe times to finish up the 120 I needed. This area is great for kiting... and at level 70, the drakes gave 1/2 to 3/4 a blue in aa experience per kill.
I haven't started killing the kirins yet.
