  • Celestial Suspension

The DB says the required skill for Celestial Suspension is between 160 and 200. A friend of mine tried the combine at 193 skill and the geerlock. He got the message he was not skilled enough.

FYI to narrow down the required skill for this combine

Hmm, 193 plus geerlok is a modified skill of 202 (or 203, depending on how it rounds). Don't required skill checks look at modified skill, rather than actual skill?

I have little personal experience with the workings of required skill checks, so I'm fuzzy on the details. Can anyone clarify, before I make a change that contradicts a prior report?

(And does anyone know if it rounds up or down?)

Im guessing it doesnt count the geerlock but the actual skill the person like the AG quests (which require an unmodified skill of 220 in each tradeskill before you can start each level of the quest).

As of this morning, the required skill level for the celestial suspensions is 200.

So far to my knowledge all actual recipes do count the modified skill. Ethereal Metal Rings are an example where I know you can do the recipe with skill under the required skill, as long as a skill modifier takes you over.

Given that the skill check for Aid Grimel comes from an npc and not from the recipe itself, I'm not sure that it's as good a measure as other recipes.

I believe you and trust your report, Aroana. I'm just not sure of the mechanics of this.

The combines for the Phylactery quest are also skill restricted, requiring a modified skill of 165.

          157 raw skill + 5% = 164.85 -- not enough to attempt the combine.
          158 raw skill + 5% = 165.9 -- enough to attempt the combine.

There were also people who tried at a raw skill of 164 and 165 without a mod, if I remember right. Again, 165 was the number needed.

Therefore, it appears that for minimum skill checks, it rounds down (truncates) the modified skill, not rounds up or rounds accuately.
