As to the edit, that's because it makes it really hard for us to update the database when posts could change on us mid update. It isn't so much for the posts with the single items, but sometimes people give a long list of trivials or prices to update and then keep adding to it. Which was great unless they happened to add while we were entering which happened once and confused me quite a bit. I'm too easy to confuse for that. I lost my edit ability too though and I do miss it.
