  • Myrron's Blacksmith Guide is outdated

Blacksmithing update guide needs some changes ... and this was the most current dated "guide" ... ?

    Myrron's (Post-June 5, 2002 Patch)

This guide cost me a signifigant loss of PP and about 5 hours of time on the "racial embroidery needles", specificly the Feir'Dal Needles. It's suggested to make those to skill up because it has a reasonable cost recoupe back to merchants, when actually, they are worthless and merchants won't buy back. Normally not a big deal but I dumped about 300pp in cinnimon sticks (Prexus) and about 5 hours fishing for Clockwork Koi to make the gnome needles based on this suggestion and it's incredibly aggravating.

Please update Myrron's Blacksmithing guide (Post-June 5, 2002 Patch) to reflect that you get NOTHING back from merchants on these. I'm sure I may recoupe my cost by selling in bazaar (all 50 of them) over the next several months, but no one else should take that route and expect anything for a return on investment to make these.

Title edited, since it was a bit "inflamatory" where it doesn't need to be.

Please note, the guides are "Suggested" routes. These are offered by the individual players who take their time to provide the information for YOU to use at your own risk. They make no promise the information will remain accurate. We here make no promise we will update every minor little quibble you might have with outdated information. And this is a minor problem, by no means serious.

As for other guides that might be more useful, "Zeralenn made a large and detailed smithing guide" is the best guide that is known to exist. Take a look at it.

P.S. I will update Myrron's Guide by removing the statement about the sell back. -- Krazick

Just as a future suggestion, I would never invest large amounts of plat and / or time in a new item without trying it first. Get enough for 5-10 combines, try it out. Now, stop and ponder - did you absolutely hate that? Can you think of a dozen other things would you rather do with your time, including a trip to the dentist? How is the return? Do you feel like you are in need of a nice nap after seeing all that plat go away? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, you are then not out too much and you've learned a new thing to avoid, relatively pain free

      still good for skillup

With cinnamon sticks easy foraged or bought for 5 pp in the bazaar I still use embroiderd and then cultural needles to skill up for every smithing toon. I use to give away the Fier'Dal needles for free in PoK and get buffed in returned sometimes

My apologies, it actually had been updated at one point to reflect the sellback (and with some additional info), but when the site lost all of its information months ago, it also lost the newest guide and reverted to the previous one. As most people tend to use Zeralenn's Smithing Guide, I re-updated my tailoring guide and then got involved in other tasks outside of the EQ realm.

If 300pp and 5 hours fishing is a significant loss of PP, then perhaps you need to read ahead and judge for yourself if smithing is a hobby you wish to pursue.
