Greetings!

I noticed in the recipes for the research skill quests that you list the combines to make the various practice runes to be done in each class' respective research tome. The initial combine(to make the azia and bezia runes) is done in the Concordance of Research, used by all 4 research classes. Then, the final combine (like the practice rune azia & bezia) is done in the individual class tome. I'm just wanting to clear up any confusion that this might cause someone who knows nothing about the practice runes.

In order to update this I need a list of every recipe where we've made a mistake and need to update it. No need to give them to me all at once but I do need a specific item name to be able to fix each instance of it. Thanks.

The ones I noticed were the Practice Rune (azia) and (beza), Apprentice Rune (azia) and (beza), and Training Rune (azia) and (beza). Also, you do not mention in the recipe that a quill and parchment are required to make the runes. The quill is returned upon combine.

Why don't we go back to basics and make sure we all get this right. Tell me exactly what you need to combine to make each of the following and in which containers:

Practice Rune - azia
Practice Rune - beza
Practice Rune - complete
Apprentice Rune - azia
Apprentice Rune - beza
Apprentice Rune - complete
Training Rune - azia
Training Rune - beza
Training Rune - complete

OK, here goes. I'm also including the recipes for runes that you don't have.

All azia & beza combines are done in a Concordance of Research, by all 4 research classes. The complete combines are done in the appropriate tome for each class. Research skill is not raised until the combine for the complete rune(ie, the combines done for the azia & beza runes <do not> affect research skill).

Practice rune(azia): Lapis Lazuli, Bat wing, Bone chip, quill, parchment. The quill is returned on combines.

Practice rune(beza): Turquoise, Fire Beetle Eye, Any rusty slashing weapon, quill, parchment. The quill is returned on combines.

Practice rune complete: Practice rune(azia) and Practice rune(beza). Trivial is 21.

Apprentice rune(azia): Hematite, Bixie wings, Froglok eye, quill, parchment. The quill is returned on combines.

Apprentice rune(beza): Cats Eye Agate, Large snake rattle, Any rusty piercing or blunt weapon, quill, parchment. The quill is returned on combines.

Apprentice rune complete: Apprentice rune(azia) and Apprentice rune(beza). Trivial is 41.

Training rune(azia): Bloodstone, Wasp wing, Zombie skin, quill, parchment. The quill is returned on combines.

Training rune(beza): Onyx, Spiderling silk, Rawhide armor(Cap, Mask, Gorget, Tunic, Shoulderpads, or Cloak), quill, parchment. The quill is returned on combines.

Training rune complete: Training rune(azia) and Training rune(beza). Trivial is 62.

Journeyman rune(azia): Jasper, Pixie wing, Bat fur, quill, parchment. The quill is returned on combines.

Journeyman rune(beza): Star rose quartz, Burned-out lightstone, Raw hide armor(Belt, Sleeves, Wrist, Gloves, Leggings, or Boots), quill, parchment. The quill is returned on combines.

Journeyman rune complete: Journeyman rune(azia) and Journeyman rune(beza). Trivial is 95.

Study rune(azia): Amber, Giant bat wing, Giant scarab eye, quill, parchment. The quill is returned on combines.

Study rune(beza): Amber, Giant snake fang, Ringmail armor(Coif, Neckguard, Coat, Mantle, or Cape), quill, parchment. The quill is returned on combines.

Study rune complete: Study rune(azia) and Study rune(beza). Trivial is unknown (debated).

Expert rune(azia): Jade, Faerie wing, Fire drake scales, quill, parchment. The quill is returned on combines.

Expert rune(beza): Jade, Giant snake rattle, Ringmail armor(Skirt, Belt, Sleeves, Bracelet, Gloves, Pants, or Boots), quill, parchment. The quill is returned on combines.

Expert rune complete: Expert rune(azia) and Expert Rune(beza). Trivial is unknown(debated).

Master rune(azia): Pearl, Griffon feather, Undead froglok tongue, quill, parchment. The quill is returned on combines.

Master rune(beza): Pearl, Giant fire beetle eye, Any fine steel slashing weapon, quill, parchment. The quill is returned on combines.

Master rune complete: Master rune(azia) and Master rune(beza). Trivial is unknown.

Magi rune(azia): Topaz, Shark skin, Brownie parts, quill, parchment. The quill is returned on combines.

Magi rune(beza): Topaz, Giant toes(any kind), Any fine steel piercing or blunt weapon, quill, parchment. The quill is returned on combines.

Magi rune complete: Magi rune(azia) and Magi rune(beza). Trivial is unknown.

This is the complete list as I have it, I have done up to the Journeyman combines, and know those are accurate. I'll be happy to answer any questions you have about these recipes.

Ok, I have a few more questions.

You've personally verified the quill return for all combines up to and including journeyman but none past that?

Is the combine in the concordance of research no-fail?

Is the combine in the concordance of research limited to int casters?
Is the combine in the concordance of research limited to int casters who have put at least one point into research?

Can the complete runes be made in the "advanced" research containers or only the older ones? (the ones you get from hailing the person in Gunthak)

That's all I have for now but I might have some more later.

Yes, I have verified the quill return up to and including Journeyman. I have not done any of the runes past that.

The making of the azia and beza seems to be a no-fail combine, I have never failed on any of these that I have made. The final combine, however, does have failures.

From all that I have read, you can make the azia and beza runes as long as you go to the appropriate person to get the Concordance(the NK Gypsy camp for good alignment, Myrsila, and the DE camp in SRo for evil alignment, Smith Tv'ysa) and give them a greater lightstone. I personally have never tried this with a non-int caster. There is a site where I read that the creation of the azia and beza runes requires no research skill. This being the case, any non-research class could make the azia and beza runes.

I also have not tried to make the final combine in the advanced tomes, from Gunthak. I would assume you could, because everything else you can do with the original tomes you can do with the advanced ones, plus the newer research(to provide some of the drop-only spells). But, since my assumptions aren't always true, I'd have to try it before I could say for sure.

I did a little experiment tonight, because I was curious(and a bit bored ) and wanted to verify some of your last questions. I took my Barbarian Warrior to NK, and got a Concordance of Research. Now, everyone knows that a Warrior is the farthest thing from an Int caster that there is. Don't get me wrong, I like playing him, but honestly he's as dumb as a box of rocks(int 73, wis 84), and has absolutely no research skill.

I gathered the components for the Practice Rune(azia) and (beza)(mainly because all of these are easily/cheaply obtained), put the proper components into the Concordance, and out popped the azia and beza runes, with a quill return! Obviously no-fail, and no research skill needed to accomplish this. Then, I put the two runes in my shared bank, switched back to Eormric, and proceeded to combine the azia and beza runes into the complete rune, in my Sorcerer's Lexicon(the one from Gunthak), thus proving that it can be done in the advanced tomes.

I assumed all the azia and beza combines were no fail, if this isn't the case let me know please.
Also, for magi rune (beza) do frost giant toes (from velious) work too? or just the old world toes?
Also, for the "any xxx" is this also any size of that armor?
For the fine steel are there any items that don't work? for instance does fine steel katana work for the master rune (beza)?
