I am not sure how much help I can actually be but on Aug 30th I did ALOT of printing... Unfortunately I ran outta ink before I could print the whole website. (I know... it was an insane project, but I like having the recipes printed so that I can make notes and such.) Anyway my point is that if you think I would have something you need please don't hesitate to ask. In the mean time will submit any missing recipes that I come across.

    hm, point...

I know I got dwarven cultural, tinkering, the old world / loy research drops pages.... then again, how to get paper-printed information back into electronic format (short of retyping all by hand /balk), to the necessary people in a decent order, and sorted out in a logical manner?

Untangling those kinds of strings might be more problematic in the long run if not done carefully than it would to just start over from where they are now.

even so, he brings up a good thought.

Scanning and going through OCR... THEN finding a way to interface the resulting text back into the DB would take longer and be quite a bit more error prone than simply re-entering the data.

Believe me, I have gone through OCR -> Database Tables is not a straightfoward solution.

The best solution is to actually get the original tables back. Next best is to do the re-entry, as painful as that may be.

The HDD is at a Data recovery site. I was thinking of giving until about the 15th for news on the data.

              Printed Information

I too, printed out recipies (and ran out of ink) on Sept 16th. I started running out of ink on Smithing - but the last pages are still read-able. I've started re-keying all this info into an Excel spreadsheet.

If you want it, Miss Niami, it's yours! I love this site and can totally sympathize (I've had database crashes too).

                digital copies

I have digital copies in word/text format for some of the tradeskills recipes from back in 2001-2002. If you think those will help you in anyway I can email it. It is about 1mb zipped.

Please let me know if I can help in anyway.

Did you get any word on the 15th as to the progress on the drive recovery?
