Astute apologies if this is dupe, but it bears reckoning.
EQTC shows the tarnished weps recipes as returning the sharpening stone on fail.
That is not true.
In fact, every rusty wep I have tried to sharpen returns the rusty wep on fails. ("...alternate product" msg)
It truly makes sense, since sharpening stones only cost 0.003pp each, and rusty weps are worth anywhere from 0.023pp to 1.230pp. I'd much rather lose a cheap stone on fails.
On a side note: Aside from quests and normal tradeskills hunting, the rusty-to-ore conversion has been an excellent starting point for smithing with newbie char's... AND provides a nice cheap way to start on early Studded, Reinforced and Banded practices. The true con to this method is encumberance from carrying so many rusty wep's (some weigh more/less than ore itself, but still about the same to carry)
P.S. Anyone at EQTC thinking of applying the tree design to semi-redundant wep/armor recipes? (scrolling through all of the Black Acrylia and Firebrand to find forged weps is tedious) Just a thought...
