Is there any way to identify these items that now don't count to housing limit? The notes say the sages have the new copies, but they have always had copies of the books I've completed so I'm not sure how to tell which ones count to my limit. For example, I have L&L for fairies in my house, so I just picked it up, and my house is still at 100/100 items. Obviously I don't want to go through every single book to try to weed out ones that might be counting. Yet fairies is one of the books the sage has for 1c for this character, and he always has. (And since the one I have now doesn't count anyway, it's not one I'd buy.) It's something I've feedbacked several times since when you get an item, I don't know of any way to tell if that will count towards your limit or not other than trying to put it in the house.

While I do not know of a way to check without picking up each book and finding out... you are in luck!! Someone started a thread recently on the official forums with just such a list. And it's been added to over time to be quite a good list. Doesn't yet have every book, but it does have most of them.

Thanks much for posting that link Krystara! It does give a nice list to start with and has a lot of items in it.

There was a post in the link Krystara posted where someone mentioned that the placement of the title when you examine the book seemed to indicate whether it counted. So far I have found this to be true (although I have only been able to replace about 6-8 books). The book has to be placed in your house for this to work. If you right click and the first line is the title, the book should not count towards housing limits. If the first line is "examine" and the title is second, it seems to count towards housing limits. So far that has worked on all of the (fewer than ten) books I have replaced.
I thought I had found something with the color of the icon when it's in your inventory, but it doesn't seem to be holding true. I noticed that all the new books I bought from the sage had a blue surrounding area in the icon and the old versions of them were that sort of brownish/dark gold color. But then I found my current copy of Bootstrutter's Guide to the Desert of Ro was blue from my house copy as well as from my bought (1c) copy and the house copy was counting to limit, so the color doesn't seem to work. I've sent a couple feedbacks to them to do something like change the color on the name of an item that counts towards limit (so you can easily see it in mouse-over in your inventory as well as in the list if you click on "collect an item" without having to mouse over every single thing in the list). |

I haven't been in-game since the change, but the way to tell the old ones apart was relatively simple: If you can "Read" them and it opens the book-like window from your inventory then they're new-style and don't count. If, on the other hand, you either can't read them from inventory or they open the old quest-examine window they're old-style and do count as items.

I logged in after today's patch and found 4 of the tall books stacks changed into single books.
Yay, except that they're too large and/or deep to fit in/on any shelves. |

Someone in the Antonia_Bayle.Homeshow channel gave a great tip for telling if a book counts against your total item count or not ...
While in your house, run your cursor over the books. If it flashes, it does *not* count against your total item count. If a book doesn't flash, it *will* add to house item count. I tested this, checking several books in my home, and it does appear to work. Hope that helps! =) (PS- I'd credit the tip-giver, if I recalled who it was. Unfortunately, the name sneaked out of my brain before I remembered this thread! *blushes*)
