Maybe I'm blind and I just can't see it, but I notice that the EQ1 site has a search feature to search for recipes and the EQ2 site used to awhile ago and hasn't for some time now. Can you either direct me where to look for it, or put it back/add a search feature so I don't have to Google a recipe every time I want to use your site?

If I recall correctly, the search box was removed when they decided to give up on maintaining the database. Since the search was over the database data, it was a natural followup. See the original announcement: EQ2TC Database Changes
That said, there are a variety of recipes still used in the site (furniture and such), which the search remains useful for. I too have wound up using Google to get results from the eq2traders search (which always feels rather weird - searching for a search results page? But it works), or occasionally just as a straight search of the eq2traders site (via the "site:eq2.eqtraders.com" restriction - though that usually yields two variants of every (item) result, due to the way pages here are structured). For some of the searchs, the Allakhazam site's search (eq2.zam.com) can suffice. They've got tremendous amounts of data from SOE, but it lacks the human touch and subcategory searchs (at least in the non-premium version) I associate with specialized sites like EQ2TC. Still somewhat useful for the 'reverse recipe lookup'-style queries (ie "what can I make with an ebon cluster?", though narrowing that to something like "what furniture can I make with an ebon cluster" or "what chairs can I make with an ebon cluster" does not seem particularly doable), or when looking for a specific recipe (ie for it's required scribe level, ingredients, source book, etc). eq2.zam.com's site is incredibly flash-heavy however, which makes it run poorly on older machines - my secondary computer (server, web browsing while gaming, etc) can barely handle 1 'Zam tab most of the time >< |

Thanks for the reply, I'm glad I wasn't going crazy. It's a shame to see it go though. Regardless of how late I am in posting about it.

Aw, I'm very disappointed by this, especially since Zam has supposedly gotten database info directly from SOE, but it's not up to date since the spell renaming.

However, the spell rename is a good example of the massive changes SOE was capable of doing (and continues to do quite a bit) that made keeping the database here up to date a bit like trying to keep back the tide, hehe.

Like keeping back the tide armed only with a whisk broom! Couldn't do it, and I was making myself berk trying!

Oh I'm so glad this thread is still here. I had been trying to figure out whether the missing search function was a browser error or what. I remembered something happened with the database a while ago, but sadly that info never made it to long term memory. Could I suggest adding this topic to the F.A.Q.? Some friends of mine were also searching for the search, but none of them bothered to delve into the forum for answers heh.
