  • New All/All click-to-cast spell scrolls

Starting a new thread on this since we discovered it while looking for something else.

Researcher Kakra in CR has a new scroll to buy titled Enchanted Scrolls. The scroll details how to make a no trade spell to summon essences then how to use those essences to create a new scroll that anyone can click on to cast. This is one of the scrolls possible. It is low level but there is MANY levels possible. Presumably these are what the new binders we have been seeing drop are for.

    Primative Scroll of Static Strike
    Magic
    Class: All
    Race: All

    Expendable Charges 1

Strike of Crystal (2.5 second Cast)
Spell Effect: When thrown, it explodes and shocks target.

    Item ID: 36325
    Stackable Count:100

We have ourselves a new Throwing item. This is not the right path to the Greater Mass Enchant spells.

Recipe is: Primitive Enchanted Spell Parchment, Quill of the Arcane, and Ink of Druzzil Ro.

Just tested the scroll. When used against a mob in CR it made 3 hits for 15, 3, 1. 19 damage in all. The scroll Enchanted Scrolls describes how much more powerful versions can be made in most of the major damage types. Just vary the ink and the level parchment you use and you can create many different types. This would also explain the Binding Powder drops we have been seeing. Per the scroll the Binding powder and the vendor bought binding agent are used to bind the enchanted parchments to higher level materials for the higher level all/all usable casting scrolls. There is a lot more work to be done on this it seems to determine what goes with what.

Primitive Enchanted Spell Parchment is made by combining Primitive Spellcasters Empowering Essence with a regular parchment.

The spell to summon the Primitive Spellcasters Empowering Essence is made by combining: Quill of the Arcane, Ink Additive of the Nameless, Conjuring Thickener, Ink of Druzzil Ro, Ink of Prexus, and Crude Hide.
Spell is Enc, Wiz, Nec, Mag level 20. Single cast version is level 16.

There are also many versions of this spell presumably dependant on the level of the essence.

    Primitive Scroll of Pestilence

Similar to the Static Strike but with disease instead.
Uses Ink of Bertoxxulous instead of Druzzil Ro.

    Effect is Strike of Contagion.

            Thats all for the Primitive

Per the scroll from the vendor there are only 5 types that can be made currently and now all 5 of the primitives are listed here. We need the higher level ones.

As far as the primitives are concerned there is no level restrictions on their use. They are pretty weak but add damage. Higher levels are likely to have restrictions.

I tested all 5 of the primitives and all of them do the same 19hp in total damage. All of it hits at once although its listed as 3 strikes at 15hp, 3hp, and 1hp.

              Next Tier up. Crude Scrolls

In order to make these there are a few other things that need to be completed first.

First step is to make the spell to summon the essence needed.
I will concentrate on the Mass spells for the time being although there is also single versions. The mass spell gives you 5 essences per cast. All spells of these lines are No Trade.

              Focus Mass Crude Spellcaster's Essence
              Quill of the Arcane
              Ink Additive of the Nameless
              Ink of Druzzil Ro
              Ink of Prexus
              Conjuring Thickener
              Pristine Rough Hide

This spell will allow you to summon Crude Spellcaster's Empowering Essence(5)

To make the parchment you will need to vary the recipe a little from the Primitive made earlier.

              Crude Enchanted Spell Parchment
A Piece of Parchment (vendor bought)
Crude Spellcaster's Empowering Essence (see above)
              Crude Binding Solution (Vendor bought)
              Crude Binding Powder (drop)

From here the recipes for the Crude scrolls closely match the recipes for the Primitive scrolls except you use the Crude Enchanted Spell Parchment instead of the Primitive.

              Crude Spell of Frost Strike
              Crude Enchanted Spell Parchment
              Ink of E'ci
              Quill of the Arcane

Rinse, repeat for Ink of Ro, Ink of Saryrn, Ink of Bertoxxulous, and Ink of Druzzil Ro.

These scrolls are level 10 required to use. Damage when cast is 35hp, 3hp, 1hp for a total of 39hp DD.

                Missed one... Rudimentary

Ok so I am not perfect. I missed one tier of scroll. Rudimentary Scrolls for level 5.

As with the others already listed here you need to first create the spell to summon the Rudimentary essence.

                Focus Mass Rudimentary Spellcaster's Essence
                Quill of the Arcane
                Ink Additive of the Nameless
                Ink of Druzzil Ro
                Ink of Prexus
                Conjuring Thickener
                Pristine Crude Hide

This spell will allow you to summon Rudimentary Spellcaster's Empowering Essence(5)

To make the parchment you will need to vary the recipe a little from the Primitive made earlier.

                Crude Enchanted Spell Parchment
A Piece of Parchment (vendor bought)
Rudimentary Spellcaster's Empowering Essence (see above)

From here the recipes for the Rudimentary scrolls closely match the recipes for the Primitive and Crude scrolls except you use the Rudimentary Enchanted Spell Parchment instead of the Primitive.

                Rudimentary Spell of Frost Strike
                Rudimentary Enchanted Spell Parchment
                Ink of E'ci
                Quill of the Arcane

Rinse, repeat for Ink of Ro, Ink of Saryrn, Ink of Bertoxxulous, and Ink of Druzzil Ro.

These scrolls are level 5 required to use. Damage when cast is 25hp, 3hp, 1hp for a total of 29hp DD.

                  Single Cast Spells

The spells to summon the various Empowering Essences is also available in a single cast version. They are handy if you don't have the mana needed to feed the bigger spells. For the single cast spells you will need to leave out the Ink of Prexus.

                  example:
                  Focus Rudimentary Spellcaster's Essence
                  Quill of the Arcane
                  Ink Additive of the Nameless
                  Ink of Druzzil Ro
                  Conjuring Thickener
                  Crude Hide

Single cast - All are level 16 spells
Focus Primitive Spellcaster's Essence - Stiff Hide
Focus Rudimentary Spellcaster's Essence - Crude Hide
Focus Crude Spellcaster's Essence - Rough Hide

Mass Summon - All are level 20 spells
Focus Mass Primitive Spellcaster's Essence - Crude Hide
Focus Mass Rudimentary Spellcaster's Essence - Pristine Crude Hide
Focus Mass Crude Spellcaster's Essence - Pristine Rough Hide

The Enchanted Scrolls text stated that the tier of material used to create the spell is not the tier you would expect based on the Systematic Research Method.

There is a total of 11 tiers of Binding Solutions available for purchase. There should be a corresponding drop for each one. Add that to the two tiers of scrolls that did not require the solutions and powders and there is 13 tiers of these DD scrolls to be found. I have outlined the first 3 tiers here already.

One thing I noted was that the single cast versions of the focus the hide used happens to coincide with the level the scroll can be used. i.e. Stiff hide is level 1, Crude hide is level 5, Rough hide is level 10. Following that rationale I tried making the spell for level 15 and 20 but got a DNC when using the same recipe. There must be something different from level 15 on up. This would be like the distillate potions in alchemy where the first 2 or 3 tiers is entirely store bought then starts requiring drops.

Man, I just *love* the way these were discovered. :-) Seeing them in Beta, I wasn't all that excited, but when you put them in the context of people trying to puzzle out a new set of unknown recipes, it just rocks.
I tried combining Celestial Solvent, a Raw Rough Hide, Rough Hide Solution and a Skinning Knife. But the result was such an oxymoron, it opened a rift into another universe. I fell through into one of Nodyin's spreadsheets and was slain by a misplaced decimal.

                      any ideas?

If ya saw them in Beta did you happen to see how the upper level ones were made? Still kinda puzzling over that one...

Bah. The "Throw" is a leftover spell description. I will try and make the wording more generic. you "cast" the scroll by right clicking it, you don't "throw" it like the potion that shares the spell.

The upper level spells match the level of the spell you get, so you use the correct "stationary" for the level. It is just those lower level spells that "break" the systematic spell system and use a "stationary" that is lower level than the spell it makes, so it was pointed out as different in the book. The rest of the spells use the appropriate "stationary" for the systematic spell research system.

                            Focus Intricate Spellcaster's Empowering Essence (NEC/65 WIZ/65 MAG/65 ENC/60) - trivial 220, No Trade

I've only made 3 out of the 5 variations and their trivials are:
Intricate Enchanted Spell Parchment - 312
Intricate Scroll of Frost Strike - 330
Intricate Scroll of Poisoning - 332
Intricate Scroll of Pestilence - 335

All are required lvl 65 to use.

I now come to understand that this is a very well-thought out skillup path for Research.

                            (1) One mob drop item gives 2 combines with trivials that are high enough for skilling up.
                            (2) Product is mildly useful and not game breaking.
                            (3) It is player lvl limited (lvl 60-65 to scribe spell and lvl 65 to use product). Unless a high lvl caster chooses to babysit a low lvl researcher. And the high lvl caster still needs to make a No Trade spell himself.
                            (4) There are 13 tiers - Crude, Primative, Rudimentary, Makeshift, Elementary, Modest, Simple, Binding, Refined, Intricate, Elaborate, Ornate, Runed

One mob drop gives 2 skillup attempts? That's the TBS system.
And 13 tiers? That's the revamped cultural Smithing and Tailoring system.

Research has just been given the "Ngreth skillup path treatment" .

                            - Edit -

Under my paragraph for "13 tiers", "Binding" should technically be called "no adjective". It uses "Focus Spellcaster's Empowering Essence" for the spell and "Binding Powder" for the mob drop.

                              Underwhelmed

So, I made a bunch of the focusing spells, then tracked down a bunch of ornate binding powder to experiment with the second highest level of components. The trivials were all extremely high (392 for ornate enchanted spell parchment, 407 - 415 for the 5 variations), and the required level is 75, so when I went to test them out, I was at least expecting something mildly impressive from the one charge on the scroll. However, as with the low level scrolls, all of the ornate ones hit the mob a total of three times for 169, 78 and 31, for a grand total of 278 damage. Now, I wasn't expecting anything too spectacular, but I figured it would hit for over 1k at the very least. The ornate binding powder may not be rare, but it doesn't seem to be entirely common either. Building a large stockpile of scrolls would likely take some time and be depleted very rapidly if someone started clicking them constantly. I had expected these scrolls to be a nice little damage supplement that could be applied between real nukes in a critical situation, or handed out to all casters on a raid to help with a fast burn. However, I can't see anyone who meets the required level of 75 ever having a use for such a tiny nuke. I can only conclude the sole purpose of these spell scrolls is to provide a relatively easy path to skill up. Given the phenomenal strength of new items in other tradeskills, it seems pretty strange to have such a weak effect in research.
