  • Increasing Purity on Sunshard Armor

    !!

Time to get the wheels turning and find this secret out. If been running all over Test this morning trying to find a clue on how to do this.

Yeah, as Gcubed mentioned... it is set at a certain rate.

even with a "5 to 1" or such on the conversion it is STILL adding more "availability" of an item I have set.

Plus... the lower the level, the easier it is to mass AE the NPC's, making it even more of an issue with me controlling the rate the items come into the game.

As a secondary bit of information on this, the lore on the different types are also "purity" and no-one has solved how to make shunshard stuff more pure yet.

On a side note, I combine 119 sunshard pebbles into bits for chain and plate BP's and got no smithing skillups. /grrrr

I did not mean it that way!

I meant the by "LORE" no-one has figured it out.

I.E. there are no recipes to do so, and if there ever is it will NOT be JUST munging 5 things together to get one better... or such, but it will take something else in addition to make it also more pure. Something that currently does not exist.

      Doh.

Well it kinda sounded like there was an upgrade recipe out there, thanks for clearing that up before I went insane looking, lol.

There is no logical rationalization of what you claim Ngreth. Just claiming its lore and "no one has figured it out" is a pointless thing to say. Stick to telling us the drop rate on the dust/pebbles/ore would have to be changed to compensate, thus making it a wash for the average player and thus not worth the programming effort, that at least makes sense rather than making stuff up and calling it lore.

I could give you many many examples where we "purify" or "refine" something in eq tradeskills and it is just combining a few things together (like all tradeskill recipes).

Maybe its just me, but c'mon! "Can you devs do X?" "Nope, sorry, no one in norrath has figured out how to do that!" I guess you were trying to be silly, but all you did was push a bunch of people to try and come up with ways to "purify" them for you in hopes that it might make you rethink a conversion recipe set =P

The problem is the word "lore" has many distinct meanings in EQ.
          • Lore is an item tag that means you can only have one of an item.
          • The "item lore" is the text you get when you cast the Identify spell on an object.
          • Certain items (mostly the ones for the Serpent Seeker charm) have an additional Lore tab that provides yet more info on the item.
          • The game's lore is another name for the back story, describing what goes on in the world.

It seems in this case, Ngreth was saying the item lore (what you get by casting identify) provides some clues about how the armors are structured and designed (game lore), and that so far, no one has looked at that item lore and figured out the structure.

            I actually meant the backstory.

The one problem with this site is that people do not read the in game books.

In the in game books it says that there is not way to upgrade (in different phrasing)

I have bank slots full of books and I read them but when I try to find what I need I never seem to be able to locate the right book. I wonder if there would be a possability of them becoming scribbed in our Story Journal or better Story Line. I know how to take things and make a Story Line readable from in game, if this were available in text format or someone had it somewhere in HTML I could do it and post here on EQTC so people could insert them.

I think Lucy tracks book texts. If you search for the book by name, there should be a link you can click on that shows you the text.

Lucy tracks texts for books and notes, provided someone running Item Collector opens the book/note while it's in his/her inventory.

In other words, if you see a book but Lucy doesn't have the text, upload it yourself!

When you open a book is it in your log file? If so I can get it from there.

AFAIK it's not copied anywhere local on your machine.

Ah, but we KNOW that the Combine Traders in Katta can and do create more pure items, because it's available from them. So, it's only a case of the Freetide Cartel people not yet having figured out how to make better, more powerful, more pure Energeiac stuff yet -- which is understandable, since "by the lore" they've only been working on it a short while, and are in any case just a bunch of pirate wannabe's living on a beach.

                          more pure

It appears that a player made item is needed to make them more pure. I would guess brewing a solvent would do this. There must be some books about making solvents not yet used or found.

Please re-read Ngreth's response, there is NO recipe to further purify the items, his comment was purely "flavor" and not a hint at undiscovered recipes.

Ngreth, surely you do not mean for Virgin gnome women to be used? Are they truly pure?
