  • JCM broken again?

Working skill up 250+, 430 attempts, 21 failures. That's a 1 in 20 fail rate. I had about the same rate on the batch I did yesterday but didn't record the exact numbers. I have JCM3 so my fail rate should be 1 in 40, and that's what I used to get on combines near trivial.

Post your skill, your int/wis and what combine you are attempting, or we can't really advise you.

int/wis has nothing to do with failure rates. skill/combine is also irrelevant. these are combines that are 1/20 fail rates (250+ near trivial like I said) and should and used to be 1/40 with JCM3 but I am getting the 1/20 non-JCM rate.

You are right, stats have no impact on the success or failure of the combine - my bad, I just automatically ask for it as many times it IS relevant to a particular inquiry...just not to this one.

But your skill level, and the recipe you are attempting (or at least the trivial of the recipe) ARE relevant ...how do we know that the success/fail rate you THINK you should have {1/20 fail rates (250+ near trivial like I said) } is actually correct and not based on wrong information?

If someone else wants to take a crack at it as is, fine. I won't. Sorry you seem to be so hostile, when all I want to do is help.

Skill and Trivial are relevant. Please post

But it is of course posible you have RNG hate curently.

otherwise, I guess you need more input from other enchanters.

80 more combines, 4 more fails, bringing the total to 25 fails in 510 combines.
            average # fails with jcm = 12.75, average without jcm = 25.5. Actual # = 25.

My skill is at 263 now, testing this while skilling up is getting expensive so I tried golden peridot bracers, 186 trivial. should be 4% fail rate, 2% with JCM3.
            500 combines. average # fails with jcm = 10, without jcm = 20. actual # = 22

Either I've gotten the most RNG hate in the history of eq, or JCM is broken.

Somehow I got the feeling that the masteries will reduce your minimum chance to fail (5%).

You have read what the aa skill is supposed to do right?
Also plug it in on the calculator you will see what the skill is supposed to do.

I've noticed a considerably larger number of fails on my Augment Cutting Syndicate since the last patch. My success rate is at about 60% since last patch versus my normal average of 71%ish (aggregate) 461 successes/653 attempts.

Not sure if JCM is broken but it seems that the baby has peed in the bath-water.

Wow something is wrong here , I have a 283 skill + trophy, and I have 83% success rate on making radiant cuts. I have no JCM aa's either.

I apologize for not having much information here, I should start to keep track of my combines to better help.

I'm not maxed in JC, 306 with the mod and JC mastery 3. Perhaps its because fails make me cringe but it seems within the last 2 weeks I went from a guess of 85% success rate at least to 40%

I did keep track of the last 20 combines, done at 306 with JC mastery3 and 280 int (i know I need to work on that /blush).

And I got 40% success Maybe just the luck of the draw. I'll try to keep better track, so as to be more helpful.

Although maybe I just want to drown the memory of failing combines in some ale

Well, we do finally have an answer to the 95% question. JCM will not increase your success beyond 95%, that cap is applied after JCM. When the calculator here was programmed, it was based on best guess. Now we know (per the interview on casters realm) that the guess was wrong.

I, too, am having horrible success rates on cutting OoW augs. Before DoN, at skill 250 with JCM 3, I had an average of 75% success rate. Within the last few weeks with a RAW SKILL of 298 (modified = 312) I am having about 40% or lower success rates with cutting the augs. This really boggles me. I have lost so much plat just cutting the augs, I only buy them already cut now when I need to have an aug made. At least the alchemists are having better successes.

I have /bug this on many occasions at least twice a week. If you are experiencing similar problems, I highly encourage doing a /bug report. Maybe if enough people /bug report it, they will look into it to see if it is "working as intended". Until then, I sadly won't be doing any combines for myself or guildies.

On a completely different topic, I have been having an unreal time getting my last 2 JC skill ups. I have mastered all tradeskills on my main, including JC and high end JC skill ups do indeed appear to be bugged. It isn't just a little bugged, either. Again, please record your combines in between skill ups and /bug report this also.

Augment combines are believed to be capped at 70-75% success rate. If you have jcm you were over this cap at 250. Incidentally 70% is the max success you could get at 252 skill with jcm3, so it looks like they didn't want to let us have a higher success rate on augs when they raised the cap. All the cap raise did was let non jcm characters get the same success rate as jcm characters.
Now, with that in mind, I failed 4 of my last 6 combines, but thats not unusual for me, my over all success rate is still holding around 70%.

What is the difference between JCM being broken, and changing the system so that key recipies have unlisted maximum success rates, thus making JCM essentially useless?

Even without the max success rate, 95% is still reached at 294 without JCM, and thus within reach of non-chanters.
