Clockwork grease

Is there any alternative way to get this for elemental bow cams ? I don't the hassle of leveling up a forager/ranger just for foraging these from POI and I protest spending 3 AA on forage for a level 51 character that will make me sit in POI for hours on end just to do tinkering combines. Isn't it bad enough that Fiend guts are hard enough to find? 1 drop per 2-3 mobs is bed but to forage grease too ? come on how retarded is that - molten ores drop plenty, staffs drop plenty enough too...why can't SOE just do away with the god dam time sinks?

It sounds like you've eliminated most of the avenues made available to getting the grease.

Apart from those methods that SOE has given, probably all you have left is via the bazaar.

Depending on your gear, Beza with its mix of light and dark blue, single pullable mobs or Zeka with its all dark blue mobs should be reasonable XP, good cash and some clockwork grease.

In the SOF expansion many of the clockworks can drop this and people often sell it to the vendors near by those zones. Steam Factory, Beza, Zeka, MMM, and Fort Mech areas of the expansion. If you do not have access to those areas, then you are stuck with trying to forage in PoI... Have any foraging friends that could help you?

Agree.

Check the vendors in and around zones populated with clockworks. Last time I went grease-diving I rounded up something like 65 grease off assorted merchants. Well worth the time to vendor dive a bit.

Appreciate all the input, apart from being a little daft I suffer from "smawgildness" which emits a loud "RAWR!" into the empty forest ....
I am only familiar with a couple SOF zones so everything is a solo adventure for me. I gave up raiding after 5 years of it so my knowledge of the last 2 expansions is severely limited I havent even done the TBS hand aug yet....

Steamfont Mountains... run through the mino tunnels and zone into Dragonscale Hills. Take the catapult to Fortress Mechanotus.

Between those zones off of Fort Mech and in DSH, you will find several vendors that people sell at after hunting in the zones with the clockworks. My suggestion would be to check some of the vendors around the catapult, near the zone in of Fort Mech (there is a spell vendor not far in), and if you can get to the tower in DSH where the guild hall portal drops you are your best options for finding them.

Don't forget to seed those vendors--they fill up fast with clockwork stuff! Grease isn't in such demand that you'll lose items by seeding. Also remember that Overvolt Rigster is a merchant too an' that high Ak'Anon Strike Force V faction is actually detrimental to vendor minin' at the base of the gnomie railgun to Mechanotus. Oh an' bring an umbrella in case the person flyin' up to Mechantous misses the decelerator cross-winds an' hits the decelerator fans instead. Is gooey sometimes. Check the prevailin' winds 'cause it's worse with a brisk southerly breeze.

Does anyone know what this is used for? Some lvl 65 was buying them for 50pp each, and said he needed 200, but I wasn't able to ask him what they were for.

Clockwork Grease is used to make Jars of Clockwork Grease which are used in PoP era elemental bow cams. While the bows are not great for players to use (there are better bows available) people still make these for tribute (or to sell for others to tribute).

Also, on the main page there is a Search feature. Click it or use this link:

From there type in the name of the item and then you can "Find recipes that use this item".
