  • stingy reseller in bazaar AARRGG!!

Once in a while I run into an asinine person who tries to beat my buy or sell price by only 1 copper. I just want to reach out and strangle that person. Funny thing though I seems to get more business if I'm second highest and the high buyer is offering one whole copper more.

If that person really needs something in buy line, asking 5,000 radiant crystals and pricing them 1c above the highest buy offer is not the right way. More like a stingy and greedy reseller to me. At 5,000 1c would hardly make a different while pricing them by 1p more than the next highest buy line would work better.

Ngreth any chance you could add a DT command to boot off such person? Bribe a dev if you need to. Make it work only if the target person has 1c in buy line or 9c in sell line and the total value of item is over 50p to minimize abuse

EDIT: Just after I posted this the same person tried to beat my buy of all runes by 1c and metallic drake scale at 22,000p 1c /roll eyes Sure raising the price by one copper is really hurting that person's bottom line.

I personally never buy from or sell to the people that undercut like that. I personally sell stuff cheap because I want to get rid of it, but I set my prices by what I'm willing to take, and if I'm selling some dropped item, its more like 20-50% what the lowest is selling for. The gimpy 1pp or 1cp thing is just annoying more than anything else.

I will avoid this type of buyer/seller like they had a true plague. it's stupid and asinine, and only someone who truly devalues the intelligence of others would even bother to try it.

What I adore more is those that beg for a combine "because my mains needs it plz plz plz". Then, without a tip, it shows up in /bazaar just a few plats below my own sales only seconds later.

I use a 5% rule. If a bazaar seller is undercutting by less than 5%, I buy from the higher priced seller. I find I have no problem selling things when someone is under cutting by a few platinum, so I think most people feel similarly.

Heh. There's a guy on Luclin who likes to offer 10-25pp more than the going rate on metallic drake scales, glossy drake hides, discordant scoriae, and other very expensive items (prices typically ranging from 16K to 70K). This particular buyer, as far as I can tell, has become despised. Largely as a result of these and other antics, the buy prices for various items have gone up 50-100% over the last few months. As far as I can tell, he's just a reseller -- buys stuff as cheap as he can, then turns around and sells it for as much as he can.

The irritating part is, this buyer likes to berate people who actually use the scales and whatnot to make and sell tradeskill, as being overpriced! Most people see through him, though, and he's ended up with a really bad reputation on the server -- so bad that he has to create a new toon every 2-3 months.
