Yes, it is broken. In another thread on the spell research board a person claimed to have tried the research in every zone, or just about, and all were DNC. That also means all the non-adjective spell scrolls are of unknown triv at this point. With Ngreth on vacation, we can't get a dev confirmation atm.

The spells are no trade. The essences the spells summon are used to make tradeable clicky scrolls.

Maybe I am missing something here, but I just made the Runed scrolls of Static Strike. First it cost me between 2500-3k each. When used I find they hit for 176 but are expendable! I dont see how these could be made for a reasonable price. The price vs. damage is way too high.

I believe these recipes are supposed to be useful as a skill up path rather than for the end result. I think it's nice that the end result is at least something you can use (even if it's not worth the cost) rather than just something you sell to a merchant, tribute or destroy.

I do find it disappointing that the spells are no trade though.

Ngreth posted somewhere else (here or the eqplayers site) that these spells were meant to be supplemental to spell damage, not a replacement. The idea, if you haven't already noticed, is to click these while waiting for your spell reuse timer to come back online. Thus, you can add quite a bit of dmg in between casts. For short fights this is wasteful but longer fights are more equipped for this and you can add several hundred extra dps.

Really, with the people I group with, these scrolls only add a way for me to skillup research because most mob fights are under 30 secs. That means 2 scrolls, maybe 3 in a fight = not worth the pp. I sell mine to vendors, who destroy them btw, to get some cash back. I tried selling them in the baz but they didn't sell for whatever reason.

Only thing no trade is the Focus spells. There is a scroll available on the vendors that gives the complete story of these. You have to be the one to make the spell for yourself (i.e. no trade) because the researcher is concentrating their mana into a form that can be used to imbue the parchments for later use. The spell has to be in-tune with the caster which is why they must make it themselves.

The actual click to cast spell scrolls carry the same high trivials and are great for skill ups. All they require is the skill to make the Focus spell and the dropped component for making the clickable spell parchments. Once made are tradeable and castable by all. Cost is marginal.
