Total cost of obtaining shawl: Around 30-35k
Total time spent: 13 days of around 4-8 hours per day, starting with 0 to all tradeskills. Using guides on this website to raise skills. Easily done.
Only time I ever failed on any combine was with sixth shawl. Failed twice with 160 + geerlock in tailoring. I'd imagine this is where most of the frustration comes. I recommend just collecting enough parts for 3 attempts and getting 160 skill.. which is easy enough. Don't bother trying to get it any higher.
Crawl is overkill with two groups I'd imagine. I did mine with one group of well equipped mostly 65's. Can speed up the crawl with a fd person too, as long as he knows where all the triggers are he can agro and run general from trigger to trigger, cuts time in half.
Thought I'd post this to inspire those who might be turned off by the quests introduction on eqtraders. It discouraged me from starting for over 4 months. Now that I've actually done it I can say it's really not nearly as bad as it's made out to be. If you've been putting it off because yout hought it was too much of a pita... do it!
