  • Question for the OLD (Velious and Kunark era) Tradeskillers

When I played EverQuest back in the early days (2001 or so) I distinctly remember being told that tradeskill skill-ups were 100% independent of the success/failure of the combine. Nowadays I know this isn't true (successes have a greater chance of skill-ups), but I was wondering if anyone who played back then remembers:

    A) the belief that the two were independent, and/or
    B) if the game actually changed to make successes give more skil-ups, or whether this was just a false believe people had (there were many back in the day).

Thanks in advance all you fellow OG EQers

    A) Yes, I clearly remember we all thought they were independent.
    B) Sorry, not positive enough on this one to answer.

    Happy tradeskilling!

Thanks for the response, I thought maybe I mis-remembered it.

Also, at some point the system was changed so that more difficult recipes (many non-vendor items and/or lots of subcombines) would have a higher skill-up chance than easy recipes.

My memory is yes on A, and I am fibro-fogged on B. I'll see if I can get a more solid answer for you.
